I will be awaiting the release of Pomaika'i's album dedicated to Aunty Genoa. I sure hope that she continue's playing on Thrusday nights with her relatives at the Waikiki Marriott Beach Hotel. I have seen here with Aunty Genoa on recent visits home. I'm glad that she has inherited Aunty Genoa's Falsetto vocal talent.

Clayton, I forgot to mention that Pomaika'i is midway on her CD project. Tutu is on the two songs with her as back up. Yes, it will be a tribute recording honoring her tutu Genoa Keawe. Aloha Kaleo,
Well Aunty is now resting peacfully and among all other great Kapuna's..
When I listen to her cd, Hula Style I still see her as happy as can be in what she loved to do best"Singing and always with her great smile". I must say that when I listen to her sing,"Alika" i get chicken skin but for a great reason.
Kaleo, Take care. I noticed that as far as music at the Marriott Beach Hotel on Thursdays, it is listed as Live Hawaiian Music. Is Pomaika'i and the rest of the Hawaiians there also?..Could you please email me at cmajlum@msn.com. We go home every October and would like to listen to the great music and just feel the Mana of Aunty all aound

She is ok..just not Bach or Mahler. And that is disappointing.

falsetto is not an invention of Hawaiians hon. It has been a range of the voice expressed by all cultures for millenia. I find Hawaiian music tedious but not without some merit. Let us not make more of it than what it is.

I just don't like it when we over-rate music here. It is all just ok at best and really nothing special.
