I am not sure what you like about Josh Turner's performance other than the great songs. He just stands there and sings. I imagine you like king George and Alan Jackson's stage presence as well. They just stand there and sing as well.
Did you go there to see him dance to hear him sing? George Strait puts on the same style show. When I go to a concert I go to listen to the music, not sure what you were there for. This was not a circus, it was a CONCERT

This review nailed it as I saw it. My wife, a big country fan, said as much as we walked to the car. I was srprised that she echoed my thoughts so well and so does this review. We love you Carrie so listen to us and learn. I will hope for much better real soon.

Josh, you were awesome. keep it up! Your values are first rate and I tink they are Carrie's as well.

You know , I can never understand fan mania for any artist.
Enjoy them, swing and sway to their music but do not idolize them. A good percentage (not all) are pre-packaged,corporate
manipulated and have their music written by someone else. they have hollywood stamped good looks, are in the right place at the right time, and cater to a pop,
3 minute song mentality that seems to be the attention span of much of the human condition. This is not to take anything away from genuine musicians, but general public
listen up,and listen really close, they should not be idolized or worshipped
and remember except for luck or fame, YOU could be one of those singers on American idol. As a matter of fact, except for a few human traits totally unrelated to music such as looks and stamina, you see yourself on American idol.

You "Carrie can do no wrong" fans are idiots for bashing Doug Pullen for writing an honest, straightforward review. Doug returned to his hometown of El Paso after spending several years as a big-time entertainment writer and columnist, interviewing and writing about the biggest names in the industry. You have become too accustomed to amateur journalists who do nothing but compliment artists because they don't know any better and hate to offend diehard fans. El Paso is lucky to have a real journalist, even if some people are too stupid to realize it.
I'm guessing this jerk wad returned to El Paso because he stunk wherever he was and El Paso was the only place that would have him. Sounds like he fits right in there. NO offense to El Paso but your paper did hire him back.

The concert was great. She is a great singer and I thought it was one of the best concerts I have been to. Sure, it could have been like Britney Spears concerts when she was on top, all show but lip synching! I got exactly what I paid for, a great night of Carrie Underwood singing LIVE. No less, no more. This El Paso Times reporter must not be from El Paso or care what happens here. I think that this is going to hurt El Paso because who is going to want to come here and get reviews like that?

For those of you who think Carrie Underwood sings country please invest in a Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn or Tammy Wynette cd. Thank you.

I personally love Carrie's performance and would go see her again. I think she sounded amazing and I got exactly what I paid for. I think anyone who truly enjoys her music and knows the lyrics to her songs loved her perfomance. Some ignorant people go in expecting her to sound exactly the way she does on a cd! It's a concert people!!! She's singing live and did a great job!! But after this review it's probably the last time she comes to El Paso!!

What I want to know is why you would spend your time writing such a negative story on Carrie Underwood??? She gave an awesome performance at the Don Haskin's Center. She's only been in the public eye for 3 years and she's already a household name. She's accomplished more in the last 3 years than a lot of artists have in 10 years. This isn't US weekly, its the El Paso Times and it's people like you who give El Pasoans a bad name! Maybe your the one who is overreaching and underachieving because this article was not very good.
Exactly what I was thinking!!!

"i really hope carrie doesnt read these reviews!"

Heaven forbid, someone might tell her that she's not that great..... we don't improve if we don't know what we've done wrong.

You are totally and completely wrong. I was there I've only been to 4 other concerts and this one was 2nd best to N'sync. I think she was amazing and she is one of the most talented female vocalist out there right now so I think you might have been a the wrong concert or you just have a problem with her because Josh Turners opener I heard well in line to buy a Carrie Underwood shirt and I didn't even want to go in till he was finished

She is an amazing vocalist, there were no off moments about it. She soared through those songs... I do agree about her passing up the opportunity to dedicate a song to the troops, that would have made the audience go crazy!,

That's because your petrified brained has morphed into useless splinters. You are sending a wrong image of El Paso Mexican Men.

Newman:

I agree with you. My favorite song is Stand By Your Man performed at Grand Ole Opry by Carrie Underwood. Barbara Mandrell and her friends jumped to their feet to join in a standing ovation. Also, Loretta Lynn has praised Carrie's powerful voice during the recording of their How Great Thou Art CD. Oh, not to mention accolades from Vince Gill and Randy Travis.
