You can tell a lot about a city when most downtown businesses display signs in languages other bthan English, and those stores carry goods that cater almost exclusively to illegal aliens.

Maybe when downtown Danbury is no longer a frontier to the Turd-World, will legitimate businesses that cater to everyone start to move in.

We don't need any more businesses that engage in money laundering, document fraud, wire fraud, identity theft, insurance fraud, and other places whose owners purposely don't speak English.

Way to go, Mark, the City Council, and Elise Marciano.

the mall killed main street, you can thank The Brazilians for being the first to reinvest in it.
Despite the efforts of white trash trash hicks like yourself to badmouth their own community, Main Street thrives regardless.
It's over for you, pops. You and your dinosaur racists are the last of a dying breed. Good riddance.

Main street was dying since the North Street Shopping Center opened.

What an idiot....in your first post (the first one on this thread) you're lamenting the fact that storefronts are going empty because of ICE (clueless...they've been empty for years), then in your second post you say that Main Street thrives. Well, which is it? Is Main Street going bust, or is it thriving?

You're an ignorant little gnat.

I believe 1955. The downtown mall--which was a disaster--was in the 1960s. Lesson learned--don't build a mall next to low income housing.

Not for nothing, but the immigrants are the only ones who want any part of our downtown. I know there are those that think if they go it yuppies and Newyorkers will move in. This hasnt been the car=se since 1985 and it isnt going to change near term. The fact is first you ned a strong base on a main street. then better things can grow from that. Not boarded up store fronts. Would you want to be the one opening up a high end store on a street of empty stores, drug dealers, drunks and alike? The fact is that our Main street was moving in the right direction thanks in no small part to the immigrant businesses that were willing to risk everything to open there. Now Our city has decided to clean them all out. And seems as though they are getting there wish in short manner. I am just dying to see what plans they have now that its collapsing. Do they plan on giving it all to BRT? Are any members of our city government stock holders in this corporation? I would bet a few are.

Let's face it, people who grew up in this area don't want to shop in a district where they feel like strangers in their own country; they don't want to be leered at, abused or accosted by vagrants; and they don't feel like they need to learn another language. Lots of those businesses in downtown Danbury cater exclusively to illegals...the owners don't want the gringos - what arrogance! And, a good portion of those businesses are engaged in illegal activity.

Also, the reason there are so many vacant storefronts and office space downtown (been that way for years and not getting any better) is because of the influx of illegal aliens. Who will risk capital investment and open a store in a district where there are no cutomers who have the money to spend, or who want your goods or services, or who don't trust you, or who can't speak English?

Look at the other places in Danbury other than downtown and those businesses are thriving. There are no empty storefronts.

Sure, illegals want downtown. They also want everywhere else, too. They come here to sign up for free food stamps, free medical care, free schooling, and pay no taxes. If left unchecked, and illegal immigration continues, then the tax base leaves because taxes required to sustain these people become enormous. The situation only gets worse...and who can blame taxpayers for voting with their feet.

It seems that the only people who don't have problems with exhorbitant taxes are the welfare recipents and Liberals who don't pay taxes.

Boo-hoo anti-white racism. The white man is oppressed in a nation that's given them all the advantages for over 200 years. Your ignorance is astounding. Do you guys actually think you're going to get any traction with these nonsensical reverse racism arguments?

What a load of crappolla. You're living in a xenophobic fantasy. Main street will thrive one day despite the best efforts of people like you to destroy the only good thing that's happened on Main Street in 20 years.

I have to admit, I do LOVE the descending order of attempted insults they've used. It really gives an insight into how out of touch Elise and her puppets are with their own culture.
