A music teacher at Chaffey High School in Ontario has been charged with three felonies for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

If he was 21 and a teachers aid and she was 16, I would more likely agree with your point. That's not the case, Mazur is a 51yr old married teacher having an affair. This situation is more predatory.

Approved the following certificated resignation request: Thomas Mazur, CHS, effective 5/15/2009, was how the Chaffey School Board minutes read for the June 2, 2009 board meeting. As is the usual Chaffey custom, they tell the offender to resign, they then can claim that they knew nothing about any lewd and lascivious activity. They simply say that they pervert voluntarily resigned on his own. This is how the district stays below the fray.

Any teacher, parent or spouse should go to the police NOT the district. They will cover it up to prevent any district liability, they do not care about justice for the victim.

If this guy said he would not do anything illegal, why is it that he is being charged with three felonies? It seems to me that this was consensual on both sides, but again, it is illegal. The guy was having an affair outside the marriage. Not good.

I can't believe this...He was my mentor and a really good friend of mine. I grew up with him as my teacher and I would never in a million years figured him to do this. I'm sick to my stomach and and all kinds of confused. He was an amazing teacher and one that I really trusted, and to see this! I, truly, don't know what to say. I know Lucy, his wife, personally and his two daughters...

Hell, Whitney and I used to talk on the phone for hours! This is a HUGE disappointment and loss.

I personally know Mazur and no matter what he did he will always be an amazing person who touched the lives of many ( and not in a sexual way). This man did so many wonderful things and this is the publicity he ends up getting? Obviously he was not the only party involved in the situation and yet everyone looks at the girl as the victim, she is not a victim she is just as guilty as he is.

Im a student of Mazurs currently i just ended my jr of high school and 2nd with the orchestra and ive done 3 years of top talented. Mazur is a great person and a great teacher. but what he did really does make me sick. I know his family both his daughters and wife. Im one of the those students who really looked up to him and was inspired by him to do something with my life... What hurts most is thinking of the mass amount of people that this personally hurts because Mr. Mazur was such an impact in so many peoples life and well...he knew better than to do what he did. i just...well i dont know...this whole thing is really screwed over

She may have been a willing participant, but she is still a minor. This teacher violated the trust placed in him to behave in a professional manner. No parent should have to worry about a teacher conducting himself (or herself) in this way with their child, regardless of what the child may want.

Listen anytime a man in leadership shows such a lack of judgment and the inability to control his filthy thought life and zipper, he needs to step down. He is a selfish person that disregarded his own self respect and name, and brought shame on his wife and kids.He made a vow to God and his wife, at least have the wevos to divorce first weakling. He was entrusted with the lives of many students and broke that trust for his own perverted lust.He has lost the right to lead others,if his wife and kids can't trust him why should anyone else? Now the ugly consequences begin, i hope it was worth the lives you ruined. Maybe next time you will think of the end consequences of your choices and take cold showers instead! She was a smart girl and is old enough to say no! He is NOT the only one to blame!!! If he had forced her then I can understand why you would think what you do but he didn't therefore it was consensual.

She is a minor. He has a responsibility to the community. He, as the adult, should have exercised more restraint. He is the teacher, he is the adult, he is the married father who let his lust get the better of him.
She is still a minor. I'm not saying she was abused by force, but it is still a crime and an abuse of his position.
