These adults... times have changed people! You need to realize that these dances are the good, healthy part of life for these teens. These dances keep them out of trouble. Would you rather have the teen able to express these freaky feelings on the dance floor or in the bedroom while you're at work? Not all teens are sex crazed. Many are very responsible and conservative when it comes to sex and many also use these parties to relieve the stress without actually having sex... try understanding the subculture before you take away freedoms you don't understand. If you can't go to your own school dance and actually Dance, then what else is there?... how about skipping the dance to go to someone's house who is not home to get drunk and high?... Keep trying to restrict teens on little things like this and adults will Really feel rebellion...

There is nothing healthy about such dancing. It is the duty of adults to set limits for children.

So, when was it ZZ Top wrote Tube Snake Boogie???? Nothing new about this. I was a teen - you were a teen. Spend more time teaching safe sex and drug abstinence and otherwise, let them have a good time.

OKay..parents i see where you think you might be helping your child by thinking that dancing as you say "dirty" is bad..well your child could be doing much worse. Their just dancing, there is nothing wrong with dancing!! you were a teen once, so remember that there were things that your parents didnt aprove of, but its a lot better than doings something illegal.!

No matter how bad something is, there is always something worse that could be done. Liz's logic is false.

My 15 year old son came home from his homecoming dance telling me about all the "grinding" going on. It was enough to creep me out.

I am an 18 year old male, recent graduate of Lawrence North High School and I simply think it is wrong to dance in such inapproprite manners even if it is accepted by some people as you can see on this forum. I am glad I am raised in family with high expectations. The above comments are kind of ridiculous and I have no comment. This is the first step towards new behaviors and not an alternate behavior for a different behavior. IT'S FUNNY HOW PEOPLE WILL DEFEND EVIL JUST BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED NORMAL OR ACCEPTABLE, KIND OF LIKE GAY MARRIAGE. OH WELL....I hope you guys understand.

Where.... I was going to school dances in the 50's and there sure wasn't anything like this going on. I had class mates on American Bandstand back then, and they weren't dancing like that.

Yes, but it was well-hidden in the past. I graduated from high school in 1965 and I didn't even see it at private parties. Nobody dared to try it in school dances.

I don't understand what the problem is. Teenagers want what they want. They will do what they want. You just don't understand! They may not be technically adults, but they are basically adults! They know what they are doing, they have lived for, uh, like, ya know, 15 or so years. So what if they weren't able to poop on the potty for a whopping 25% of their extensive life experience? What do you care how they dance anyway? Like it's any of your business, anyway. They're going to do what they want to, anyway!

Sounds to me like some of these girls could use something of their dads' wardrobe bumping on their rumps (a shoe, or a belt maybe?) rather than juvenile males' crotches. And maybe those crotches could be calmed down a bit by an uncomfortable and to-the-point discussion with their mothers about how a gentleman behaves towards a woman.
