Raid Of Pa. No-Kill Shelter Finds 700 Cats, Many Of Them Dying
Humane officials and sheriff's deputies raided an animal sanctuary in western Pennsylvania after a months long undercover operation found hundreds of cats, some dead and diseased, and other animals living in ... continued here

It's a shame that some shelters get overcrowded, or just simply do not treat their animals well, and suddenly all no-kill shelters are horrible places. I could never kill an animal just because there is not enough space. So I never take in more cats than I have space for. My end goal is to run a large animal shelter, capable of housing hundreds of cats at a time. The key to keeping it well-run will be having capable, trustworthy staff and VACCINATING THE ANIMALS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF DISEASE.

I agree with you shelters need to be run properly. In time we will find out whether the Tiger Ranch was actually as bad as they say.
It is interesting that already actual number of cats found there has had to be revised downward from the initial claims of 700. |

It's a shame that in this day and age we even need shelters. It's not like we don't have an answer to the problem. Just too many ignorant/greedy people who are to lazy to make it happen. |

chris derose of last chance for animals supports lin marie and tiger ranch
and here's what wikipedia says about DeRose...how can anyone support chris derose after reading this? his endorsement for tiger ranch only makes it look even worse then it already does: Chris DeRose (born June 28, 1948) is an animal rights activist and a former actor. He appeared on General Hospital, Cagney and Lacey, CHiPs, The Rockford Files and Baretta. He was an on-camera reporter for the television shows Hard Copy and Inside Edition. DeRose was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is the founder and president of Last Chance for Animals and the author of the book In Your Face: From Actor to Animal Activist. DeRose has been arrested 11 times and jailed four times for opposing animal cruelty, including his participation in a break-in at the UCLA Brain Research Institute in 1988. DeRose was fired from General Hospital when he had to go to jail. One of DeRose's most controversial actions was arranging for two undercover operatives to pay Wisconsin animal dealer Erving Stebane $50 to kill and butcher a dog while DeRose secretly videotaped the action. Felony charges were filed against the dealer, but in June 1993 Calumet County circuit judge Donald Poppy ruled that the case constituted illegal entrapment and ordered the return of 143 dogs which had been seized. |

I understand what most of you saw on tv, but what most of you seen was botched. Yes, a lot of animals at Tiger Ranch were ill- but the owner is a firm believer that animals should not be put to sleep. This shelter was the only place these cats could live and live happy, believe it or not. They got to run around outside, got fed, and did get care. I know there are some exigent circumstances when an animal should just be put to sleep, like when humans just pull the plug. But all too often, shelters pull the plug too often, and tiger ranch served to let the animals have a bit longer to live.
I agree animal cruelty should be punished beyond the harshet extent of the law, but Tiger Ranch was nothing more than an animal facility that irresponsible people dumped their pets off at. I've seen it with my own two eyes, and I'm going to assume based on many of your locations many of you haven't. SO please take my visions to heart and understand Linda really just wanted the best for these animals. |

Our animal shelters are usually good over here I adopted my cat from the local shelter.
The cages are clean and they make sure the animal has been spayed or neutered before adoption. I just can't understand people who get animals and then discard them it's sick. |

Most shelters I've been to here are good. I adopted two cats from a shelter here, and like I said I thought Tiger Ranch was nice. I blame no one but the irresponsible people who "own" pets and discard them like trash, or that don't fix them not Linda. |
