So we should know better than anyone else how bankrupt the whole pure-capitalist system is, and how a little bit of Socialism is necessary to the whole dairy from going teats-up.

When parasites start stuttering like this, the only worthy government program is putting a bounty on their heads.

The "New Deal" dyed tons of potatoes poisonous blue and dumped them in the oceans, while people were starving. It took tons of sugar and let them weep into the oceans, while people were starving. There is no better example of false economy, than a Socialist economy.

Neither the ultra-conservatives nor the ultra-liberals have all the answers. When you sway too far from the center, you sway too far from reality. The reality is that thanks to the two party system, our political system has come to resemble people arguing about who has the better football team. UT or A&M? Republican or Democrat? If the general public is too busy taking sides, it's hard to see that neither party has the answer. The answer lies somewhere in between. This is why bi-partisan solutions somewhat resemble fairness and keep the independents happy for a short period of time. Really a third party that takes the best of both worlds would be something that most would identify with. The social freedoms pushed by the liberals and the economic freedoms pushed by the conservatives is something that the libertarians... true libertarians embrace. Unfortunately they will not be allowed to play ball by the big two because they have a more appealing, more American message and platform.

So when I read the venomous vitriol on topix among groups of people trying to insult and belittle the other person for either being on the opposite side of the political aisle, it just reminds me that the people who always win are the ones who gain from division. Those people are the party bosses. The real party bosses that don't need to run for office. They just bankroll them.

End of rant...

walterfm is absolutely correct -- knight, you are blinded by propaganda and a lack of critical thinking. These tend to be common among far -right evangelicals and bigots trying to justify themselves. Possibly you should stand back, take a look at the real world of today and join the progress toward freedom for ALL.

You mean where there is a school that banned mother/daughter and father/son dances? You mean where in California they are wanting children to have more than one set of parents legally. Like a say a menage a trois...what progress...dismantling the family, dismantling the everything that is good and pure and replacing it with perversion...progress...

Two errant situations don't make a Nation nor does your opposition make a difference in California. Your vision of our future looks like our past to me and most others. The world moves on while you are aging and becoming less and less relevant to the realities of the today of younger people who are progressing in the manner and direction they choose not yours. So sorry, but that's just how it works -- Your days of control are over old man -- get used to it, I've had to.

funny but true statistic, the states that take the most federal aid, and cost the USA the most money in "entitlements" are ALL red states...Romney doesn't even know his own voters...LOL

Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite.

A mixture of capitalism and socialism seems to benefit the largest percentage of people. Pure socialism and pure capitalism are cruel and ultimately unworkable. Getting that mixture right is the trick. When Wall Street nearly crashes the economy, and when Mitt Romney pays little or nothing in taxes, clearly the mixture is way, way off.

And when he thinks 47% of Americans are parasites - totally overlooking the fact that close to half of that percentage reflects veterans and senior citizens - then Mitt is way, way off, too.
