I sure am glad the officer had video. He would of lost his job with the false accusations and lies like most attorneys.

I am sure he was at least four times the legal limit on his BAC. I wonder if Higgins' attorney has called the FBI to have the officer investigated. How pathetic. But at least he didn't kill an innocent pedestrian. He has been drinking and driving for years. I saw him drinking at Mori's back in the 1980s, so he's been a drunk driver for many years. A lawyer should be the first one to know about running your mouth. Maybe he forgot he had a right to remain silent, do you think?

APD did a outstanding job with this jerk. Even with Mr. Hoggins constant degrading remarks the officers kept a professional attitude and treated him with respect.

I still want to know where the footage of the first video went. The part I am not seeing is when he is cursing the peace officer in the car and he couldn't sit up well.

I know some of the footage is missing and I wonder Why? Is this corruption in New Mexico? Not telling the whole truth just what the media wants us to see.

What a disgrace to the legal profession. Hope they throw the book at him and kudos to the officer for a professional demeanor through out the whole process.

He represented me once (not DWI related thank goodness). What a nasty, unprofessional and inappropriate person (and he was supposedly sober). He yells obscenities at his clients and doesn't think about what he does to the officers of APD who did their job and were completely professional in this instance. I hope true justice is in store for him - he should be disbarred from practicing law.

Good job Mr. Higgins!! What right do they have to arrest a person for DWI when you were walking down the street. Shame on them!!!!

Why doesn't APD usually videotape their arrests? It seems that if APD officers were consistently behaving professionally such videos would be helpful evidence in DWI cases. Apparently, arrest videos are just useful for humiliating someone that has exposed their corruption and lies in the past. Also, where was the witness to his driving? Being a drunk idiot is not illegal in and of itself.

What is wrong with you people? This man is innocent until proven guilty. Obviously APD has a vendetta against him. As for the woman claiming to have been his "bartender" on here: GET A GRIP! It seems like people are trying to get their "15 minutes" off of someone else's misfortune. It is obvious that if this post reflects the sentiment in ABQ this man will never get a fair trial. It's a shame to see such ignorance in the general populace. I support Mr. Higgins and pray that he will find justice. Shame on the rest of you...

dear appalled,

You are obviously a lawyer yourself or his girlfriend or ex, etc. and most likely are defending this ass because somehow his reputation reflects on you somehow. Considering that this is not his first DWI or run in with the law, shows that there is obviously a pattern with him and if this was any one else we would be assuming they were guilty.

In ABQ you are judge from the media. You don't have a right to a fair trial. They offer you a plea and if you don't take the plea they put the fear that they will get atleast one charge 18 yrs minimun. You have a right to a attorney and if you cannot afford one one will be appointed. They don't tell you you won't see you lawyer only when a plea is offerd.

This is how our case went and it was not fair either but know one seems to care but I will keep my story alive and maybe someone else might have made a mad choice and will remember what I said.
In may case the lawyer never went and talk to his client. He was in MDC one year before going to prison and this was a non-violent crime. And it was his first crime other than a traffic stops.

So sad, I heard this guy used to be one of the top trial attorneys in the state until he started spiraling out of control. Looks more like Ted Kennedy after Chappaquiddick.
