Go to one of the pounds. Far too many animals are euthanized due to irresponsible breeding.

However, I'd lighten up on the matter, as we both know you'll use this as a chance to go into yet another "Obama ate dog" (without mentioning the rather important fact that it was when he was a child and lived somewhere where it was acceptable) rant.

After all, if it's going to be okay to make fun at one, it needs to be okay to do so to all. So how about we start with the fact that, according to Christians, the beaver is a fish? It's pretty funny when you don't mention the fact that it was so they could eat them during Lent and it was so they could eat healthily during the settlement of North America.

By the way cat in the kettle is classic....thanks for that....

{One more addition on a serious note....Silk is right there are much needed cats/kittens to be adopted at the local animal shelters....too many cats abandoned or otherwise....}

Ha, this is so sad. I'm the only woman I've ever met that can say she ate beaver and not mean what comes to most peoples minds. It's actually pretty tasty. If I remember correctly, it has the long grain, like flank steak. Needless to say, I didn't know what it was when I was eating it. Same thing with the rabbit I ate. I was told it was chicken.

The irony is that, I just pulled an 8-10 week old shepherd mix TODAY off of I-25 coming back from the Res. Calling her Tulane, for how much traffic I had to cross to grab her.

Just got her out of a bath, and fed her, and she's got a good safe home she's going to tonight. It's a shame I can't keep her, as she's really good with the cats. She's thin, but other than that and looking like she was out on the mesa for a long time, she's in decent shape.

Here she is after just grabbing her:

Right? She's really a fun little thing. I wish we could keep her, but we just don't have the time to give her a fair life. So she's going to someone my fiancee works with who can.

Animal Services or Humane Society. Sometimes they hold Pet Adopt-a-thons at Pet Smart. I heard on the TV that if you adopt an older pet between now and I think Feb 17, you won't have to pay the adoption fee. Older animals make great pets.

It's cool that you've found a home for such an adorable pup....

All of ours have been rescued one way or another....whether off the street or from the pound....our black lab is kind of a miracle....she was essentially on the "death row" section having kennel cough and they didn't suggest we try to take her and nurse her to health....saying she might infect the other dogs....we went ahead and risked it and through lots of prayer, care & quarantining she is a nice healthy black lab....the rewards of rescuing these animals, these companions, these friends are priceless....
