NM Voices for Children. They see a wage hike to $9.25 to raise 600 jobs? Tell me that was a typo. Will lose jobs too, but figure. You raise salaries and the state and federal treasuries will gain. Like Pelosi saying that the "investment" in education grows the national coffers. They look at us and our children as tax payers. Cows to be milked and culled. We pay taxes and then we pay in cash for businesses to hire people at a higher wage. The end beneficiary is the governments' increase in tax revenue because of increased sales taxes on goods and the increase in taxes on the wage earners we supported. Very smart and deviant thinking. They think we are that stupid? Yes.

Politicians in general have long viewed the public as sheeple who's job it is to pay taxes and be quiet so they, politicians, can spend that money. We're just pawns in their game(s), cannon fodder and so much trash.

stores/retailers/restaurants etc will just raise their prices accordingly and the min wage raises and then some will just be eaten up by the higher prices. what else is new ?

Exactly! Those higher minimum wage earners will feel the impact of those higher prices too whenever they have to shop for things. It's a vicious circle.

For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction.

And in 1968, the minimum wage was $1.60. If it had kept up with income growth and distribution overall, it would now be $21.61. To complain about a dollar is to buy into the fallacy that capitalism likes you to keep falling for hook, line, and sinker.

Capitalism? What are you talking about? That has what to do with a person deciding on the wage they pay their employee. Capitalism versus what then? What is it you are advocating?

Indeed! So, let's pick communism. I'm sure the minimum wage in China is great! After all, we provide so many jobs from outsourcing! Hmmmmm, India isn't communist. I hear they have a strong US workforce as well...

The problem here is many individuals....like the government live beyond their means....through credit, credit cards and loans and after awhile can't keep up....we need fiscal responsibility in the government but also on an individual level....

Garland Greene: What if I told you insane was working fifty hours a week in some office for fifty years at the end of which they tell you to piss off; ending up in some retirement village hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time? Wouldn't you consider that to be insane?
