"The testing is expected to take at least two years and cost more than a million dollars to complete."

No wonder it will cost the city $17/gallon to pump it to the city water system...

Hmm, an Oil Company drilled and found water. So will it be $130-some Dollars per barrel gallons of water?

Remember when you get that sucking sound from the city's wells like a straw in an empty glass your house and property will be worth zip. Then everyone will be moving to where it rains a lot, unfortunately they will not be able to afford another house.

Oil and gas wells usually bring up lots of water. It's horrible, nasty, salty stuff that must be properly disposed of. That's one of the reasons environmentalists oppose drilling.

Back when I lived in the East Mountains opposite Sedillo Hill, there was another one of these "We-found-a-HUGE-undergro und-lake-of-water" things. This one was also developer-driven. As for me ... I'm calling "B.S." until more reliable information is available. Meanwhile, I hope the county and city aren't so stupid as to jump into some shady deals based on just what they say, now.

That East Mountain huge aquifer discovery claim was B.S. indeed, and my B.S. meter deflected to full scale when I read this story about the West Mesa. We have known for decades that there is ground water out there, and it gets salty as you go west. Download this US Geological Survey report and read all about it http://pubs.usgs.gov/wri/wri034131/ See Figure 9 shows the pre-development water level, and Figure 27 shows the salt content of ground water.

The news media got suckered, once again, into being manipulated for someone's agenda.

Thanks for the link, now people can read the Facts instead of watching KOB's bogus reporting.

KAFB knew of this aquifer for decades. They just announced it presence because they ruined the aquifer under KAFB, and will probably tap the cleaner aquifer.
