Personally, I would like to know how to contact the sheriff's department to give them history information.
Can that be posted here?

I knew the girlfriend in this situation. She had told me about him being abusive to her a year ago. I'm curious about her daughter- if she had been in harms way? I just can't believe this happened.

This situation is tragic, Fred is gone, Brooke is locked up and there is a little girl that is now without a mommy...If there was abuse that had been going on for over a year, why would anyone continue to expose their child to this environment. They were not married, the child was not Fred's, and LOVE is not enough to stay...Sorry!

You need to contact her attorney. To find out go to Bernalillo County, New Mexico Free Public Records Directory. Click on Courts - Directory of Courts. Click on Bernalillo County Court House. Click on Case information. Search by her last name, then first. If it lists a Public Defender call the Public Defender's office & tell them to connect you with the attorney handling her case, that you have valuable information that may help her. If it lists an attorney call them. Good luck.

I looked it up. She's booked under Brooke Lee Finley. Her bail is $75,000. There's no attorney listed yet. Call the Public Defender's office in a couple of weeks to see if she's been assigned a PD. Use the name she's booked under, Brooke Lee Finley. I'm sure she will be eternally grateful for any help she gets from people who knew this jerk.

Just to set the record straight, Fred was a friend of mine. "He Who Is Perfect, Cast The First Stone". It takes two to fight. If I were being abused so badly by someone, I would stay away from that person. For everyone's knowledge, Fred was a Veteran of the Gulf War, "Dessert Storm", he was not the same person when he returned, as is the case for many of our brave men and woman that put their life on the line for our great country and all of you. So, I want to say, Fred, May God be with you and may you now be in peace with yourself. God bless you Fred.

As tragic as this situation is at least some good has come out of it, Fred will never again be able to use his fists to beat up another woman.

People who knew the both of them, that's who. He was the abuser. Is this Cindy?

Google Brooke Hefty or Fred Saiz and go to the Topix forum. Pages 4 and 5 have postings from his ex-wives, relatives and other women who were involved with him. If you escaped abuse from this man consider yourself fortunate beyond belief!

Those of you who think this is funny should be ashamed of yourself. This newspaper should be ashamed of itself, printing this one sided smear campaign against a good and decent man. They didn't print the facts at all, just a couple of people telling lies so they could get their name in the paper. The Journal made him out to be crazy by saying that he "Patrolled his property" when all he was doing was checking his fence line to see if any coyotes were trying to dig in to get at his animals. Fred was a good caring friend....... certainly a better human than any of you.

Dude. Nobody is ridiculing Fred. And no one in the paper was telling lies. I knew Fred too. And I'm having a hard time coming to grips with this whole thing. I'm sorry for what happened to him. But I'm sorry for what has happened to Brooke, too. Not everyone was privy to his problems. Be glad you weren't and just enjoy your good memories of him and grieve the loss of your friend. But don't think that the people who were not so fortunate as you are all full of beans.

If you are/were such a good friend why didn't you bother to help Fred get help for his violent behavior. As friends we know when our friends are going through issues. Talking to the ex-wife, ex-girlfriends will all have a different story, and who knows forsure why the women stayed with him. I would say the biggest part would have been fear. I pray for his family and also for they young lady who will have to live with the throught everyday of what she did. It could have been the other way around too and then he would pled what????????? Don't blame it on the war.

Most people do not believe women can be abusive. Women get off lightly when they commit crimes.
