i wonder what the fiesta's organizers are afraid of. or whose pocket they're in. god forbid the locals hear from someone other than Faux News about what's going on in the world. why not let Greenpeace show up and let people decide for themselves?

It sounds like the fiesta organizers are trying to cover up some poor decision-making with an equally poor excuse.

Besides, global warming is hardly a "radical" issues. The only extreme view in this comments section comes from the folks who deny that it's happening.

The should let Greenpeace in!

What I would like to know is how many other entrants were denied... What is going to happen to them? Wouldn't that be discriminatory?

How many others missed the deadline? If they are the only ones I'd say let them in if there are others they are out.

I'm really disappointed in the Fiesta organizers. For some irrational reason they think balloons advertising for cigarette companies and alcohol are appropriate messages, but 'stop global warming' is too controversial?
And it's common knowledge that the fiesta organizers extended the deadline for applications because they have over 50 open slots...
Wow, a voice of reason amongst a bunch of right wing ditto heads. They probably all listen to that fat oxycontin filled hot air ballon named Rush Limbaugh!

I doubt very much if the Fiesta committee will cave & let Greenpeace enter & launch from the field or participate in the events. They never have let a balloon register late in the past & they shouldn't start now. Deadline means get your entry in before. Greenpeace is not being discriminated against. No balloon has ever been turned away because of a message it has on the balloon. So much planning goes into this event from individually assigned launch pads for the balloons to the layout for the concessions. If Greenpeace wants to come here & launch away from the field nobody can stop them & nobody would care. Many who didn't get their entry in on time the past have flown off field. Much ado about nothing. The Greenpeace pilot & crew had better have sleeping bags with them for the first weekend. Every hotel, motel, bed & breakfast & park bench has been booked for months.

Greenpeace was denied because of who they are when in fact the Fiesta has let in cigarette, alcohol and religious balloons. Global warming is a known threat to our way of life and this would be a great way to
get that message across since it is the most photographed event in the
world.

Greenpeace has worked hard for years to protect our environment. There's nothing wrong with a balloon that says "save the climate." Just let Greenpeace in and end this silly controversy.

Hmmm, did they or did they not miss the registration date? that should be the only issue here. If they did, well then too bad. What they stand for should have nothing to do with it. Many organizations involve in this event, Green Peace should be no different, and in this "politically correct" environment we live in, I would bet the truth is...... they missed the registration date, and no exception should be made, a dead line is a dead line.

If there is a Fiesta. As we've seen from some posters at this board it contributes to global warming.

Why, so they can get their teeth kicked in by the other crews?

This doesn't make sense, Greenpeace should be let it in. And the deadline was extended this year b/c they didn't have enough balloons in it. Hmm, but they won't allow a harmless balloon with a good message.
Apparently they even missed the extended deadline.

Why should they get special consideration over anyone else? Anyone who applied after the deadline did not get in. That should be the end of it.

If Greenpeace has enough money to buy and operate a ballon and many thousands of dollars, sue for entry etc, they are not using their donations wisely.

Kinda like APD with their $94,000 Suburban huh.

I may or may not believe in Greenpeace's message however I'd never give to an org that wasted my money like that.
