Words don’t mean what words mean
Friday, June 8th, 2012
Bill Clinton wasn’t sure what the meaning of the word “is” was.

That seems to be something the Obama administration has in common with the Clinton administration. Maybe it’s a Democrat thing, not knowing the meanings of words.

Of course, the Obama camp has taken it beyond the meaning of a little word. It’s now up to proper nouns.

Look at what Eric Holder told Congress this week. He said that an email that used the phrase “Fast and Furious” didn’t refer to Fast and Furious, the operation that intentionally let guns into the hands of Mexican drug dealers. Read it here.

So, what did it mean? Well, his defense was it was another scheme to let guns into the hands of Mexican drug dealers.

That’s really not a good defense of actions. It’s like,“Oh, I’m not guilty of killing Joe. The email where I said I killed Joe? I was talking about having killed Kevin. So, everything’s cool, right?”

Anyway, I’m wondering what words mean when Democrats say them. I think I’ve figured some of it out, but I might need your help with the rest.

When a Democrat says,“Hope and Change,” he means “We can really screw things up and smile the whole time.”

When a Democrat says “Your taxes will go down,” he means “Bend over, this might hurt a lot.”

When a Democrat says “Look at all the jobs we created,” he means “Pay no attention to the larger number of jobs lost. And be sure to get to McDonald’s in time to go on shift at 4:00.”

When a Democrat says “We’re going to restore American,” he means “To its status as a colony of Europe.”

When a Democrat says “Everyone is equal,” he means “Unless you’re a woman being paid by Democrats.”

When a Democrat says “We’re the party that supported slavery and created the Ku Klux Klan,” he means … well, he won’t say that, because you really can’t change what that means.

Can you offer some other suggestions on what Democrats really mean when they say the things they say?

I noticed this too...liberals have a totally different language...and to add to it the words they redefine are many times redefined over and over to suit their present situation. Websters Dictionary would have a fit trying to pin down many of the definitions they use.

I call relative word definitions.

Oil independence is another GOP spin that needs translation.

The oil is bought on the global market. What this means is the drill baby drill has nothing to do with independence from the global oil market prices. Any oil that is drilled will be dumped into the global oil market.

Oil Independence is con artist language. It's a way to not do your job representing the people in our nation.

This country does need a GOP translator.

What words mean in Republican universe doesn't mean the same in the real world. For instance when Mitt Romney says he wants to serve the people of the United States, the GOP translater will reveal that what Mitt is really saying is he wants to be the puppet of Corporations because Corporations are people my friend and anyone who isn't a Corporation or in the 1% can take a hike.

The GOP knows they can never tell the people what the GOP agenda really is, that's why you will only hear Obama bashing, social issues, and Mitt did say issues of taxes and economy is behind the closed door, it's not for the citizens of this country to know, Mitt did say that, in the quiet, in secrecy, buzz off America, get lost, vote for Mitt and feel the door slam in your face.

I have always noticed (as in santy fes usual response) any disagreement with their liberal progressive idealogs are met with crude language, name calling and just none of the 'civil discourse' their dear leader in DC states he wants to see. Just crude and loud and obnoxious, and that's if they win, when they lose cover your kids ears.

the starting point is a slander, a false assertion that someone chose to repost, what do you expect?

Who are the ones that created hate radio? Who are the political operatives that created a TV network they cynically calls itself "fair and balanced"? In the case of Holder who are the ones creating this racially and politically motivated publicity stunt? We live in an upside down world where teachers are vilified and corporate raiders are called job creators. And then some silly parrot whines that the conversation isn't civil anymore.

So are you saying that the writers of the Bible were Liberals? You will find all about slavery in both the Old and New Testament.

The Book of Leviticus prohibited the harsh ruling over other Israelites, but that slaves could be taken from the Gentiles.

Well, there was a way to be free of that. Believe and follow God.

Interesting how people gloss over the solutions.

God was concerned with His people and mainly their relationship to Him. And He was as always concerned with everyone elses relationship to Him too. Our circumstances are secondary.

Why is it that some of the poorest, or worst people can with God's help and them surrendering to God's will can become so incredible...but others...will use their circumstances as excuses to stay that way. Or successful people...some kind use their success for God...but others steal from even the poor.

It isn't the circumstances.

it's a matter of cognitive dissonance. Once upon a time....The Republican Party was a more conservative version of the Democratic point of view. A Republican was fiscally and socially right of the middle, but not in danger of falling off the right side of the planet. Since Reagan's trickle down theory met Jerry Falwell's brand of government, the GOP has become an irrational combination of christian right ranting and corporate bullying. Rational people who think of themselves as "Republicans" are stuck between a rock and hard place hence:
cognitive dissonance. This theory states that when our thoughts and expectations are challenged by reality, we become mentally uncomfortable. In order to avoid or minimize this cognitive discomfort, we end up changing our original thoughts and opinions in order to justify what is happening. In other words, when there is dissonancebetween our expectations and reality, we end up changing our
