Downtown will die because people refuse to go down there after dark... it's just not safe.

First, the menu sucked. It was boring pub-grub ala every chain-pub in America. Just look at Sysco's catalogue of frozen commercial appetizers and you've pretty much got their menu.

Second, they cater to stupid college kids who don't know how to act in public or hold their liquor. Every week the streets teemed with sloppy, drunken skanks puking in the alleys or standing in the middle of the street screaming that their boyfriend is an a$$hole; and with them came hundreds of assorted wiggers, Jersey Shore types and gangsters, all of whom descended upon the area to drink two-dollar draughts, bang the skanks at the bar, and listen to sh*tty, third-rate bands play music through sh*tty, third-rate sound-systems.

What a shock that it failed.

Do you know why I carry a .45 all the time? Because they don't make a .46.

I wasn't born until 25 years after that, but I still carry a .45 all the time.

Kaiser-

I carry a .40S&W, it had almost as much knockdown power, but less recoil than a .45.

And I too am carrying all the time.

There's more of us out there every day.

That's exactly the kind of society that we need...millions of Rush Limbau fans with deadly weapons stuffed into their pants.

The thought that someone who believes Glenn Beck to be sane might be called upon to excercise their best judgment in the use of a handgun is very comforting.

Get over yourself, nobody cares that you carry all the time. You'd likely sh*t yourself if anything really went down, anyway.

Look, defacation under stress is normal. I admit that I sometimes poop myself when I find myself alone on a dark street, but that's normal. Do I carry a gun because my wiener is on the small side...sure....again, not uncommon. Show me one normal person who can honestly say that they don't pee a little when they hear a car backfire.

I know who you are Kaiser; and it's true folks, he pooped his pants in my classroom every time a classmate burped, passed gas or otherwise made a loud noise. His Mother running down Grand Street with a change of clothes was a regular occurance. I don't know anything about his self-admitted small weiner. You'll have to ask Father about that condition.

Look, if Jillians was so great and the location was to blame, why is Pearl thriving? Why is the owner keeping the Bayou Cafe open?

Funny how there's no crime at 677 Prime or the Pump Station around the corner. Could it...might it...is it possible that it's the clientele?

I can't understand it.... I lure thousands of college kids into my bar, fill them with beer, and they get all rowdyo which is wierd because college kids are normally so respectful and reserved.

If recall the New Years Eve party at the Elks Lodge in 2008, you know my weiner QUITE well. By the way, that was a great use of bleu cheese dressing!

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! "Good one, centurian" he said in a Michael Palin voice. God, I'm glad I went on Topix Albany this Friday night while drinking wine, toking, and listening to Canadian Jazz 91.1 on the internet (Toronto - my wife and I tune it in on regular FM radio at our western NY Lake Ontario annual rental cottage).

You gotta admit though in a place like Jillian's "only the Romans could keep order there"!(BTW my wife and I 'religiously' watch "Monty Python's Life of Brian" every Good Friday or Saturday before Easter Sunday).

Now somebody start a thread as to why the Capital District / Upper Hudson Valley lacks a full-time jazz / blues station?

We do need a blues station..Howlin Wolf,
etc. and a jazz station too. It seems we are
behind the times. Even if some of the stations
devoted an evening here or there to jazz and/or
blues would be great. Years ago Pee Wee Harris
had a great blues show/music....
