this could have been worked out a long time ago if the ceo of ST Clares cared about the hospital

This is outrageous and I am shocked that this could happen. The area's second largest city w/no Catholic hospital - disgusting!

I no longer live in Schenectady, but still the closure of St. Clare's hurts. I grew up at that hospital - so many of my family worked (or still work) there. I volunteered there, worked there, met my husband and had my children there.
It sounds corny, but St. Clare's will always be a part of my life, and I will always be grateful for it's existence.

Didn't the Berger commission order Bellvue to close also? Why would Ellis take it over? What kind of backdoor politics went on there I wonder?

Bellevue was ordered to close.
Ellis now owns it and runs it.
They just consolidated.

$50M + $3M to merge them. I wonder how much they were losing each year, I bet no where near this amount.

bELLEVUE IS GOING TO STAY AS IT IS NOW.
THANKGOODNESS,GIVING BIRTH THERE WAS GREAT,

RW I agree with you, just because a NYS senator has an emotional attachment to Bellvue is not reason for it to be saved while other hopitals are not given the same sort of attention.

the other hospitals were allowed to consolodate
too.technically,st.clare;s was supposed to close
but now ellis is taking over both facilities.
So what is the problem with that?They are all still open.
