We could be years from a shot at Airbus suppliers
It could be years before aviation suppliers for Airbus consider locating operations in the United States, members of the Gulf Coast Aerospace Coalition learned Monday.

To be sure that outsourced parts meet the rigid specification required for the aircraft industry will take time. It's not like a Detroit recall where they can bring in thousands of cars for on the ground repairs. A part that fails in mid air doesn't give the factory a chance to fix it without death or injuries. As time goes on, just-in-time and other outsourced vendors will locate here when they are sure the local parts are 100% accurate and meet FAA specs. It's now a challenge for the state to be sure there is a well trained, high tech work force that tosses out the old shade tree attitude of "close enough". The parts have to be PERFECT and the workers will have to accept that or not expect a job in that industry. When that happens, suppliers will move closer to the factory.
