Thatcher never closed down all factories.
She stopped the state subsidising unprofitable nationalised industries like the coal mines, British-Leyland, some shipyards, etc... that were bottomless pits where the taxpayers'money was wasted.
She made a cese for free enterprise, and rationalised the economy whre profitable sectors would thrive, and unprofitable be closed down.
That was wise and courageous.
I bet Hollande wouldn't do that. We see how France tries to keep the Peugeot factory at Aulnay opened, or the Goodyear plant at Amiens. Hollande changes policy every time he meets opposition.
Thatcher wasn't afraid to confront the strikers and demolish the trade unions. She send the ringleaders in jail!

Not sure all the Brits agree with you here. I heard there were parties being organised when she died.
Clarkson does not agree with you either:

I don't expect everybody to agree with me, but many do.

Bar Churchill during the war, Maggie Thatcher was the best Prime Minister Britain had during the 20th century.
The country still lives off her legacy.

If it wasn't for Thatcher, Britain would now be a socialist country like France.

Not so difficult that for you to admit that France is bigger exporter than UK and registers yearly about 20% more patents than UK
when this fake is on the UK forum he tells us how bad we , the British, are! he claimed France was much better, but here he insults you. he knows nothing about a lot of things and has to desperately google for facts when he starts one of his absurd arguments. I expect next he'll tell you that Islamic jet engines are the best.

Britain wasn't doing well under Thatcher, actually GDP per capita then was even lower than Italy's! Thatcher followed blindly an ideology with the consequences that we all know. She sold all the country's industries. France was actually doing better than England under Mitterrand who was shrewd and a pragmatist despite being an ugly socialist. Mitterrand also did a lot to protect France's car industry and today Renault owns Nissan. England started doing better again under the Labor party not under Thatcher, we are talking about MANY years later! It's doing bad again with the Tories and their austerity policies. Nothing to brag about here. You are not Germany sorry. Many Brits hate Thatcher and for a good reason.

I see that self-calling British Rio, probably of maghrebian origin, where main industry has been for centuries to loot north mediterrannean coasts and enslave hostages, is absolutely for nothing in British glory, and wraps himself in UK flag in order to bash the french.

Wrong. There is no French airspace industry.
There is an European Airspace Agency, to which several countries contributes.
Among main ESA contributor countries
France (18,8 %)
Germany (17,9 %)
Italy (9,5 %)
United Kingdom (6,6 %)
Spain (5,1 %)
Belgium (4,1 %)
Switzerland (2,4 %).

It will console you to know that most of the ESA satellites are Matra Marconi Space built.
Wikipedia wrote:
Matra Marconi Space was established in 1990 as a joint venture between the space and telecommunication divisions of the Lagardère Group (Matra Espace) and the GEC group (Marconi Space Systems). The merged company was announced in December 1989 and was owned 51% by Matra and 49% by GEC-Marconi.
If Rio claims that the french have no big turbojet industry because they only have 50% in Snecma-GeneralElectric joint venture, will he claim that UK has no satellite industry, being in minority in Matra Marconi Space joint venture ?

It is true that liberal ideology minded Rio favours competition, forgetting that bunches of cooperative peoples are stronger than bunches of competitive peoples.

No, the lack of competition brings a monopoly, itself leading to complaisance, and lack of choice.

he once said his father was Irish but joined the British Army. He told us he was raised in France . This would make him British but not English. Since he claims to have married a Palestinian he has got worse, but not long ago he said he was a widower. I expect he has another story on the Russian or Algerian forums.
