Failure to make money is the fault of fuel prices. Another problem is labor costs, those Uions. The same people who gave 20% back in 2003, 1.8 Billion. The same employees who watched the upper managers recieve retention bonses for thier talent. Running the only entity in the industry to not make money. The pilots have stopped turning a blin eye to little maintenance issues. Safety First, as long as you don't impact the operation. Now whether it wa union guys or not doing these mods, you can't help but wonder if they are being pushed for speed over quality. (That should never be allowed to happen) Someone in the media accusd the union of sabatage. My vote is for a slander law suit. It turns out spilled beverages are now the problem. (Did no one think to cean the hardware before reinstalling it.) Sounds like a managerial oversight on alot of things, yet the blame nevergets put there. One exception Arpey blamed himself for the S-80 groundings several years back. When will someone take responsbility

The loose seats are obviously Obama's fault! Under Bush this never happened.

Yes Obama moved the seats and the Unions tightened (not well enough) the bolts... On a non sarcastic note. Romneys firm Bain consulting is a huge proponant of outsourcing. I.E. Eliminating jobs, or replacing well paid labor with the cheapest bidder. People actually want him for president. What will he do close the Capital Building. Send the Senate jobs to India and Congressional jobs to China?

I wonder if the mechs at AAL have to be told to wipe their butts after they take a crap. Every time a seat row is removed and another is installed, the cleaners are called to clean the seat tracks of all the debris they collect. They do get dirty even though they have covers covering the empty seat track. After months in the air the seat tracks seem to always collect dirt, peanuts, junk, everything from the paying PAX! For AAL's spokesman to make it sound like this is something the airline has never come across before is yet another out and out lie from the incompent idiots running American Airlines !!!!! I hope the FAA fines that airline millions of dollars for , yet again, piss poor aircraft maintenance!!!!!

If you're referring to contract maintenance then why was it only AA? All major airlines use third party vendors.

To; That know it all who says cleaners don't clean seat rails. All I have to do is write an E-58 non routine work card saying that before I allow the seats to be installed, the seat rails will have to be cleaned and withing a hour or so, a group of cleaners will be on the plane cleaning out the seat rails.

Things have changed. Past ten years it's been mechanics.
E-58s were phased out over 5 years ago on the docks.
Everything is on computer other than some work cards.
