I come from a country were everyone is the same colour, have a chance of getting an education. Yet the poor will still be poor and the rich will always get richer. Will i say they are poor because they dont take advantage of free education. Then i go to the so called public schools and i realise where can i possible end up with such a level of education. An economic ression means a competitive job market my competitive advantage is i went to the best of schools. So an employer see my CV and hires me. Not to mention the thousands of people with my level and quality of education. What would you say about a person who went to a run down highschool, state funded college and has no masters degree. Its very easy to judge people from where you stand but try living in the ghetto then youll see another side of the coin.

Untill recently?????? 50 years ago is recently????

From a legal standpoint, racism (and discrimination based on it) theoretically ended with the enactments of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution immediately after the Civil War over 130 years ago.

Practical legal discrimination by race continued up until the 1960s, when, at the conclusion of the Civil Rights Movement, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed any form of legal racism or discrimination in the United States 50 years ago.

They have no excuses left for not succeeding and yes that goes for White and Black.

By the way poor Education is not an excuse either. I dropped out of high school at 17. I got a job driving heavy equipment. I now own my own business. With a backhoe and a dump truck I make more that most of my old friends with college degrees. You just have to be willing to work and start at the bottom.

Yes 50years that means a child born then would be 50 thats just one generation. Do you know who many generation it takes to make a culture change. Are you telling me black people were no more discriminated against. Or the healing process was gradual and discrimination has gotten less over the years. I asked you do you think they are miracle workers. My father came from nothing but he made a way for his children and i have a better life and my children's lives will be better than mine. And my dad is older than 50 am the one enjoying the fruit of his labour and my children will enjoy even more . Do you understand or you need further explanation.

Yes thats my point people are poor for different reasons and people are rich for different reasons doesnt matter if your black or white. I can tell you there are people who have done the same thing you did but ended up dead broke. Would you say because you did it means anyone can do it. There were series of events that lead to you being where you are some by chance some by hardwork.

In general we think of a generation being about 25 years - from the birth of a parent to the birth of a child. so 50 years is not a generation. The kids now are the third generation since the Civil Rights Act of 1964. So "Citizen 1986" really has no argument.
