lol i am enjoying this topic . I feel people should come right out and tell what ethnic background they are from, but also mention the nationality whats the big deal so what everybody comes from someway. iam african american woman and my parents are trinadadian iam born in new york. People are are very silly nowadays. Nothing about who you really are is define by your birthplace.

If their parents are mixed or grandparent, I do consider them mixed also. You do not have to be half something to be mixed to me. Being fully black meaning NO ONE in your family is non black or mixed with a non black race. If that makes sense.

I'm guessing this thread is referring to black girls.

I think it's because they're ashamed of being black. A lot of black people are ashamed of being black from what I've seen. Even the ones who pretend to be proud while hating black features and praising Caucasian features and culture.

The only black guys I hear lying about their ethnicities are the fresh off the boat African ones who like rap and pretend to be black American if they can fake an accent. Or Africans from former colonies who pretend to be from colony that colonies their African country.

Nope in the thread she was referencing a guy who claimed to be all types of ethnicities.

race refers to any group of people having the same ancestry; family; clan; lineage so yes i do use race and ancestry interchangable because their kinda the same thing in my book lol. ANd i wouldn't call a person from India or a black fillipino black. I mean less be real we can all 90 % of the time tell when a person is really black and not mixed.

So black is a race I thought it was a color?

We have allowed too many people from other ethnicities to lay low in our communities and home life. They give nothing in return for our kind hospitality of getting them through some problem.

What they end up doing is consume our resources... destroying African American families, our cultural unity, our identity and what is considered beautiful within our group.

We will no longer hold the welcome mat out for low-life individuals of other ethnicities or race. We have enough to deal with considering all of the mismatched families from bi-racial women preying on dark skin African American males and out of wedlock births.

Some people are just ashamed to be black because something is wrong with their brain. It's as simple as that.

What's wrong with being black nowadays? Everytime you aske someone, usually someone younger what their race is, they half to be half puerto rican or indian or dominican or something you know they are not. I'm not tryna call everyone liars but what drives a person to lie about their race. The worse is when a person say's "Oh I'm not black my skin is just dark" and you know their lying because they have the same course hair and dark skin you do and they can't even really identify with the race they claim to be. Are we that ashames of ourselves?
During the 60s black liberation/sepratist movement, the core element was that each individual got to choose what he was. How are you defining black? Black is not a race of people or a skin color. Black is a culture/religion. Black is not a look. Proof of this is that in the 60s, in order to be identified black, one had to wear a dashiki and a natural.

Each individual is named after his country. America=American, Germany=German, Japan=Japanese, etc. I have never been to Africa, born in America of Ethiopian and Indian ancestors, I am an American. I prefer to be identified as colored. Man of color. Most young people are smart enough to not want to be identified as black because they do not share the culture. They figure that if Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are black, they are not because they do not share their views.

I don't know and don't care. This stuff is too complex. I do have dark skin and nappy hair. Call me black or African who gaf? There are so many people in the world who resemble me it's ridiculous. But I could fit in West, South or Central Africa. The Caribbean islands the Philippines or the south Pacific islands.

You are one confused person. American is a nationality, German is a nationality, Japanese is a Nationality.

There are black Germans, there are black Americans, I'm sure there are very few black Japanese.
