Chicago Black Ministers Voice Support For Obama

“Of all the candidates who seek the high office of the presidency, we know from our own experiences with him that Senator Barack Obama best represents our hopes and aspirations.”

About two dozen Chicago-area black ministers crowded around a small pulpit in a historic African-American church Friday, pledging their support for Barack Obama's presidential campaign despite the candidate's split from outspoken pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

"We know that there have been controversial matters that have appeared in the news media as relates to the sermons of Rev. Wright," said the Rev. Leon D. Finney Jr. of the Metropolitan Apostolic Community Church in Chicago. At the news conference, ministers refused to specifically speak about Wright. Read more

As a black man from Concord, North Carolina, I must stress that black men and women should make their vote Tuesday not based on color or sex, but on the issues. Saying this, I know I am yet in the minority. Barack Obama is an amazing man, but it my belief that he is not ready to be President. He lacks experiance to make the changes he and we so badly need. Plus, Mr. Obama has not proved that he is a true friend to the African American community, wheras Hillary Clinton has. Put aside the media bashing, and our community should remember that both Clinton's have always been there for us. They are not racist, not even close. We need to look at their records, Hillary Clinton has a 96% rating by the NAACP and African American issues. This should not be overlooked for the chance to vote for one of our own. Tuesday, I will cast my vote based on the issues, not on the color of skin. We in North Carolina need to send a strong message to Mr.Obama..he can not take our vote for granite. We are not a bunch of yahoo's who do not understand the importance of having a friend in the White House, nor are we silly enough to not vote on issues. I beg my fellow citizens to make your vote based on your future, not Barack Obama's. Hillary has been there for us, and she will continue to be there for all of us. Thank You, Robert, Concord.

So voting for HRC isn't based on HillBilly's future?
