people i just do not understand why we cant pray at school its crazy and praying is a good thing we should be able to do good things right.Everytime i ask my teacher why we cant do this she always respond and say BECAUSE ITS THE LAW AND WE MUST OBEY THE LAW there have been many times where me and my friends wanted to gather around and say a quick prayer before we get ready and take that hard state test I mean when i was in pre school our teachers use to teach us how to say our grace before we eat but now kids in preschool arent learning that anymore i really think this is sad.

The teacher is right. Because of an aetheist movement and the first amendment they succesfully removed prayer from public schools. They have even tried removing the phrase under God from the pledge of allegiance.

Some schools have even prohibited all forms of religious observations due to the first amendment. The arguement was that if a person does not believe then why should they be subjected to practices. To me first amendment gives rights to all, not just some. The school boards, in fear of lawsuits, caved in to the pressure.

One school even prohobited a Christmas play done by a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds. Pretty sad that children are being told to suck it up that Santa is not real instead of letting them be children and enjoy their childhood.

i think they should change the law and say that if a child wants to pray then let them pray but if one child doesnt then they dont have to not take prayer from everbody

So what if people dont believe the same as you. Then they dont have to participate in praying. It's as simple as that. Why should we, as americans, have to bow down to other religious beliefs while we must hide away our own? NO THANKS!!! Liberals are the ones who are taking away our religious freedoms. They are the ones who are sucking Christianity away from everything. They are for "change" which is the reason why prayers are banned and the pledge is wanting to be changed. I'm not for any of it and will do whatever it takes to keep the pledge the same and to bring prayer back.

I most deffinitley agree with you but for you to stand up for prayer and have your title as "sexy black girl" is very much wrong.

That is why the United States is in the mess we are in now because they are trying to take God out of everything. From the praying at school, trying to get "in God we trust removed from the bills", and removing the ten commandments from the building (can't remember if ist was the justice building or capitol one)

Thank the Left-Wing Liberals for that. No one should have to be "exposed" to the culture of prayer, BUT you MUST be exposed to liberal views on drugs, pro-abortionist theory, evolution theory, acceptance of homosexuality and sexual promiscuity. If one didn't know better, they may might actually think this was Satans agenda at work. Hmmmmmmmm.... lol

The people who founded the nation known as the United States were mostly Christians. Most people in this nation who state a religion say they are Christian. I used to think that there was nothing wrong with keeping it out of schools, but where you give an inch others take a mile. This was part of U.S. culture for a long time. Now others are trying to take away all our culture and traditions and then say we never had any. They say you can't have a Christmas play at school and then call it a Christmas play or sing religious songs. They say you can't have a manger scene on the courthouse lawn. They say you have to remove monuments with the ten commanments that have been in government buildings for over a hundred years. Stores tell their employees not to say Merry Christmas but Happy Holidays. It goes on and on.

Muslim girls are allowed to wear head coverings to school when school policy says no head wear is allowed, yet a prayer before a school football game is not allowed.

after reading all the answers to your question, i don't think anyone really told you why...the other answers all have a valid point or two, but still not the answer that will help you fight for what you believe... and that is the answer... the non-believers stood up, spoke loud and clear, and took and bent the constitution to fit their wants. they stood up and fought.
In order to bring prayer back to school, you will need to start a movement, and bend the constitution, back to it's original intention. which i believe would mean that prayer can not be forced on you, but it does not mean you can not pray.
The court system has picked the side that YELLED the loudest, and it's sad they picked a side at all, instead of walking the middle, and protecting both sides rights.
until those that want to pray demand the right to pray, and just accept the law, there will be no prayer in school. The court system has been lucky that it is easier to shake your head at their decision, rather than stand up and demand your rights.
someone must be first, someone must lead, and SOMEONE MUST YELL, and force the court system to include all rights, not just one side.
They also bent the phrase "separation of church and state" to mean the gov't can not allow anything religious to exist on it's property, or show any support for..all it meant was the gov't, can not pick one religion over another, and that's all...all religions were meant to exist in America...

you have your work cut out for you Sexy Black Girl
and i do hope you start a movement and start YELLING, i think if someone started it with true conviction, they (maybe you) would find more support than you ever imagined.. because when people are allowed to pray.. hope lives.

the separation of church and state has and is contributing to the demise of this country in a major way...sad, very sad

However, you can pray at school, you may can't do it as a group but you can pray. Close your eyes wherever you are and pray. God knows your heart.

Nobody is stopping you from praying in school. What you cannot do is make it a formal exercise for the whole class. That excludes those who believe differently.
The problem is that Christians want to dominate society. They do not understand why we have the First Amendment: the British government FORCED Anglican religion on people, persecuted Catholics and others, and the founding fathers here didn't want that to happen.
Since the schools are GOVERNMENT technically, the school cannot be associated with any particular religion!!! Why is that so hard to understand?
As for Muslim headcoverings, I agree on that one; they should not be allowed. France has banned them in the schools and the USA should do the same and TODAY!
Many schools have allowed students to have a small religious symbol (cross, Star of David, etc.) around their neck, but of course then Christians start showing up with five-inch crosses...
And when a PAGAN student wears a pentacle, it is often forbidden and referred to as a "gang symbol"!!! See how deep the religious bigotry in this country runs?
The biggest religious issue in the schools today, in fact, is that of persecution of pagan students by Christians.

well just because some ppl dont believe in christ and prayer, doesnt mean the others who do believe have to completely stop their practices publicly..now those who do believe are forced to hide their beliefs in public, and their first amendment rights are being violated...so it goes both ways i feel prayer should be allowed in schools. but only to those it may concern.
