Since when did Diane Carroll whose parents are both black become any more mixed than the rest of us AAs??? I hate it when black men pretend that especially black women with white men are come from a mixed background, you only make yourselves look like big liars and very insecure.<quoted text>
Capree, yours was an exercise in tortured logic, and contradictions, but I'll try to explain a few things.
The IRB label is an important identifier. It is a way of paying homage to loyal and conscious Black people by differentiating the deserters from them.
I am not one who jump for joy when a black person crosses back to the natural order. Of the trio mentioned, only Janet Jackson could be really classified as Black. White men have as much right to Hallie Barrie and Diahann. Carroll. Only in America is mixed-race considered Black. People who crisis-cross are lacking a central core of consciousness, and are like straws in the wind.
Eventually, IRB's and mixed-race will merge to become a separate entity.
The dilemma of the Black man is his lack of power and control over means of production. Those Black men with money are all about self, and, therefore, lack a degree of consciousness to uplift their community, to provide work for their people.
Women have always been susceptible to the instruments of power, and money is one of them. Men in control of jobs and money are using their power to get what they want, and women are used as trophies, rights of conquest.
This is why my heart goes out to those BM and BW with a semblance of pride and consciousness. Just some thoughts.
