The real/original people always get hated on. Kats is just mad cuz when we come to America we are about our bussiness and get high paying jobs after schooling.

I beg to differ seeing as though I 'm in a position to do so!,..The Nigerians that I have encountered here in Chicago tend to turn their nose up at African Americans as if to say they are better, they also have these arrogant demeanors when you approach them and ask them how they might like the states and city so far. It's always snobbish with a hint of conceit!and for what!? Me myself I hate no one!but I just refuse to kiss anybody's a## no matter who you are what you have or where you're from!!.Maybe if they came off a little more friendlier we wouldn't have to worry about why they might seem hated or disliked by most!

Love Nigerians. In fact black people born in other countries tend to really work hard and value education. Some people hate on them because of that but many Black Americans can take a page from that book.

In South Afrika, there is a general dislike of Nigerians, from across all population groups. The biggest reason has been that Nigerians are the once who 'kill' many South Afrikans by distributing drugs around. There was a beautiful section of Johannesburg, dubbed the New York of Afrika, called Hillbrow. Now the surburb has been turned into Little Lagos, with drugs being the order of the day.80% of the people who live in Hillbrow are male, uneducated, gangsta Nigerians.

I always thought this was a South Afrikan thing only of hating Nigerians. One lousy reason from many black South Afrikan men is that these Nigerian men still their women coz apparently, apart from having big di*ks,they are not afraid to spend on their women. It's common for a Nigerian man to buy his girlfriend an expensive and car, without much hesitation.Apparently they've got a lot of money!!!
I can't confirm or deny that though.

Reason being is that a brotha like me who is half Nigerian and have been to Abaden, Port Hartcourt, Abuja, and Lagos on several occasians. From a Foriegners POV we are grateful for what AA have done to help open up Avenues for other blacks worldwide, but it`s what the doors you guys have created u are not following through too the max potential and we fell that if AA steped it up on their end along with other enslaved people of African Descent in this part of the world that AA and Afr-Latinos would be in a way better Socio-ecnonomical situation than what they are in right now. Let`s not Forget what ya`ll would call the African kids in school " African booty scratcher " " Gorilla " and other derogatory remarks. Now since i`m also half Brasilllian i nevr really got ridiculed unless one knew me and everytime someone would try to pick on the African kid i always had to defend them and had to swing em on one occasion. I don`t know why they do that in Chicago but out here in Cali we don`t hold our noses high at all. I just think it`s the imagery that WHITE americans put fourth when they outsource the Black entertainment and how even Black American stereotypes get draggged along worldwide

I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of people have had very bad experiences when traveling to Nigeria. I have heard several horror stories from people I know who have traveled there. Also the fact that a large portion of email scams originate in Nigeria does not help either. I know personaly, I used to sell on Ebay, and several times I have had auctions screwed up from people in Nigeria that bid on the auction and send fake emails pretending to be Paypal and try to get you to send your item to them. Have also had fake money-orders from people in Nigeria. They always try to take you for the high dollar items.

My sister's desire to marry a "real" black man got her a union with a Nigerian student while they were in college. From a cultural perspective she would have been better off marrying someone white from the U.S. The Nigerian man turned out to be very controling where she was involved. He'd forbid her to visit our mother or leave the house without his consent. It was up to him to tell her what to wear and when. He also resented my sister or anyone questioning his personal business away from home that involved other women. This was his birthright in his view. He was always nice and cordial with me and the other men, but the women definately had to take a few steps back.

He had a brother who was also a student. He had two wives: one American and one Nigerian. I remember his Nigerian wife always serving us treats (at her husband's command). He used to get away with slapping her too. My mother wasn't terribly accepting of either of these men (especially her son-in law). One day the older brother slapped his Nigerian wife one too many times and my mother saw it and demanded that he "not lay another hand on that woman". I don't think the Nigerian wife spoke English, but she always smiled at us.

One day his Nigerian wife died in a house fire. Later, for some reason the police wanted to ask my sister's brother-inlaw about details of the house fire. That's when we discovered he'd already left the country to head back to Nigeria. We never saw him again after that.

After 7 months my sister's marriage to the Nigerian had ended.

I don't know about ya'll, but I've gotten along VERY well with just about EVERY african I've met! There was this Nigerian girl some years back that I was feeling real hard!!! She was EXACTLY the type of girl I like. Pretty, a bit conservative and about her education. I wish she like me as much, but it turns out that she didn't want to mess with me cuz she had actually liked my brother.
Anyway, I am of Carribean descent, and I have no problem with ANY Africans....the only thing I don't like is when they have a prejudice against me, which can be dealt with by just not fitting the stereotype. Thats not reason to hate them...And I do wish the women would give play, but....thats STILL not reason to hate.

Nigerians, Senegalese, South Africans, "BLACK" AMERICANS, Afro-Europeans, Afro-Carribbeans.....WE'RE ALL ONE IN THE SAME. Ever heard of the saying "same ship, different trip"??? If not, then LEARN IT and embrace each other instead of hating on one another. Non-"blacks" tend to laugh really hard when all people of African descent openly express their hatred for one another. There are some bad Nigerians indeed, but there are also many GOOD ones just like in any other national group. Usually when people hate on other groups, it's pure JEALOUSLY. There's no other way to explain why a grown person could hate another grown person without having any valid excuses or reasons to WHY. It's because they are JEALOUS of that individual or group and need to find a way to tear them down in order to lift THEMSELVES up. I personally don't despise Nigerians as a whole nor any other group. I despise some people in all national groups as individuals though.

I feel you especially about the name calling but if nigerians want respect then they too would have to fix the name calling they look at you and whisper"their ancestors were cotton pickers"and then they turn their noses up and look at you funny.but as you say we are all from the same crooked straits so what gives nigerians the right to act as they do!?
