I had someone tell me that wehn blacks and mexicans move into "nice"(white*?!) neighborhoods things get messed up.

She even went as far as to say that statistics show that the property value goes down.

I have looked for this "statistic" and have yet to find...I really would be interested in why it happens if it does.

Do you think this is true, or does the neighborhood stay the same?

well whether it's fair or not, yea it's true that property value does tend to come down. this has been a common thing for years, it's really nothing new. and in society today, the reasons probly have more to do with crime than anything else.

I guess all of the people losing their homes are minorities. Not good, educated middle class whites. No way white Americans are perfect they don't make mistakes, mismanage their money, or have any social problems it's the minorities. Why all the foreclosures in FL, CA, MI, OH and many more states. Hell all of the blacks only represent less than 12% of the total US population.

Not true most blacks and mexicans that are able to afford to move into a "nice" white neighborhood are no more or less inclined to "mess" it up then their counterparts.
These are again merely stereotypes.
I live in a predominately Mexican neighborhood called Creekbridge and despite the foreclosures and occasional toilet papering of peoples yards, the neighborhood remains pretty well off.

In the 6 years since my wife and I purchased our home we have had a few black families moves in and our house has more then doubled in value. I do not think that is true at all. It depends on who is moving in and race would have little to do with it. Poor white people behave and have the same mentality as poor black people. I am of course generalizing when I put poor people into one category. We know it is never all of any group as nothing in life is black and white. No pun intended. The point being that most people that can afford to move into decent neighborhoods are hardworking people and behave the same as the people already living there. So there would be no reason for the property value to fall.

Further to that point some of our best neighbors have been black. Come to think of it and I had not realized this before but the three neighbors closest to us are now all black families. Go figure. Their all really good people and good neighbors. No complaints here.

it's not because the new neighbor is any particular color but rather a natural transition of economic factors.
as some areas decline economically they lose desireability. anyone who can afford to leave or live somewhere else will and their place is taken by someone who is lower down the economic foodchain. with very little money to go around to begin with properties are not kept up and they begin to look run down.

This used to be true, but not so much anymore. It used to happen because of a combination of economics and racism. When too many black people moved into a neighborhood, white people used to move out (this was probably 40-50 years ago and earlier) because they were racist. When people move out of a neighborhood, property values decline because there are more houses for sale (supply-demand) and since whites made more money than blacks, they would move to neighborhoods that black people couldn't afford and then once the home prices declined, black people would move into the old houses that white people had vacated.

To combat this, there are real estate laws. For instance, in California, you can't put pictures of people in new model homes that you are showing. The idea is that you can make it seem like the house is for white people if you put pictures of white people up, or that it is a black neighborhood if you put pictures of black people in it. You can only put art pictures in the home (flowers, fruit, etc.) This rule is only for models that no one lives in. If a house is being sold and people actually live there, there will probably be pictures of the actual family around, but some real estate agents will remove them for showings if there aren't that many.

HEY, ROBOCOP......

Read the post about slavery returning...HOTSHOT!

I feel sorry for you always having to watch your back. I wonder if that's how folks felt on your Grandpappy's PLANTATION???
Better be careful tho...that's how WACO got started, and don't forget Columbine, and while you're at it make sure you get some more women so you can keep your compound uploaded with babies and children. Don't forget to marry your daughter so that she can keep your pure race going.
Oh, do you have space underneath your house to build some more rooms for the other girls in the family? Gotta keep reproducing your holy, pure and "legend in your own mind" race of people.

Remember, if the BOOGIE MAN don't get ya, the NEGROS will........

Are you SCARED, are you SCARED!!!!!!

Murphy, "The first couple of times some blacks tried to rob my house they were quickly disabused by the loud barking of a .357 Magnum. I'm not puttin up with that, but blacks think they can just pick on everyone. They keep doing this, they're just *ffing* stupid at this point, I'm getting a couple of 12 gauge shotguns and 2 dozen boxes of ammo for them."

"If possible, work like I am on getting a FFL which entitles you to automatic weapons. If I could I would get a grenade launcher and an RPG."

The thought of Murphy at home, with all those weapons. lol! Sorry Murph...but You remind me of Mr. Strickland (sp?) from "Back to the future"! lol!

Because people keep on saying that there are statistics and I really would find it interesting to see what happens when people of a different race come to a neighborhood...

See that's what I think. But NO it has to be brown folks coming in. It's not brown people, it's BROKE PEOPLE!...the ones who don't care to keep their houses up or who are lazy.

Do you work in real estate? How do you know? I just want to see if it's a misconception.

Yeah...I don't see how anyone could actually believe that the neighborhood is going to get messed up.
