Many people consider them black. I personally think they are black because they have black ancestry. Your thoughts, and opinions welcome.

Most Caucasians have long died off they are mostly mixed race these days - therefore they are black.

Many Meditterean folks find it offensive if you refer them as being black.

Mediterranean isn't a race and yes there are people living in the Mediterranean who are white and do not have black ancestry. Deal with it and stop with your nonsense.

1. "Mediterraneans" includes a wide range of peoples on 3 continents.
2. "Caucasian" is a bogus and virtually meaningless designation.

Now, what was the question?

My thought? Yep, most of 'em, based on USA f*** up racial perspective, are indeed so-called 'whites'. Caucasians are only people from Caucasus.'Mediterranean' peeps are joined by the sea, some common history, ancient cultures & cuisine. & most of these peeps don't even consider themselves as 'Mediterraneans' by ethnicity or even less 'race'. & overwhelmingly they never had any 'black' ancestry. & yep, you're just another dumb made in USA ghetto fart -- w/ or w/o 'black' ancestry. Ya kids are only good as pro toilet cleaners. ;-P

We do not see humanity clustering in the "races" postulated by racists.

"Caucasian" is not a valid distinction.

Europeans are mixed of about half a dozen types, mostly, plus a few minor types. The frequency of each type varies around the map of Europe, and not all Europeans have every one of these types, but there is no part of Europe which can be seen as distinct in significant ways from the rest.

In the South there is more E and J. But then J is also at high % along the Danube, tracing the path of Neolithic migrations. Uralic N is more common in the north, but northerners will have the same I and R as southerners. Remoter areas have less R and more I.

Get it? You cannot divide a segment of Europe off like that...

In fact, this continues across the globe. Really, can the Mideast be separated from Europe? And in turn, Iran? Now India, there we encounter some different groups, but some of them if traced back split from Mideastern groups 30,000 years ago.

And R is interesting in that its ancestor moved to India from the Mideast, then split into lineages, all but R being Asian or Native American. So the closest relatives of R (Aryan) people are in eastern Asia and America.

Now, tell me about "races"???

True. Actually, Iranians even share same haplotype w/ Amerindians.
;-) It's all an ethnic continuum.

YES a continuum, exactly. As you move across the earth, you encounter different variations in the combinations of types... one drops out, another appears as you move this way or that.

Mideastern J is all over the Mediterranean and probably accounts for the perceived similarity of all Medit. peoples. Aryan R is closely related to eastern Asian and Native American types. Moving across the north of Eurasia is interesting... high % of Uralic N in the west, then Siberian and east Asian types appear. The Inuit of Siberia and Alaska have different haplotypes.

There is no RACE as commonly construed.

I have been to Italy, Greece, Israel and Tunisia.
People are caucasian in the Med region.
But the Med region has a lot of Arab and African blood running thru viens of the people from ancient cultures that once mixed.
The normal skin color for Med people is olive to dark brown.

I was once on Ibiza, Baleares, Spain, and in the country talking to a local who told me that he had in his veins the blood of ancient Europeans, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Moors, Arabs, Normans, and I forget who else...

The Med was once the center of the World in ancient times.
It was ruled by Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Persians, Assyrians, Moors, Turks, etc.
The Med was a melting pot of various cultures and people.

Yes it's true we have admixtures but that doesn't make us mixed or anything other than caucasian (white).

We need to lose the labels "white", "Caucasian", etc., for Europeans and adjacent Asians.

These are BOGUS categories. They cannot be defined nor delineated.

This contributes to perpetuating racism, using those labels. Like it's so important whether someone was "white" or "black", both bogus categories.

An Italian is ITALIAN. An Egyptian is EGYPTIAN. An Armenian is ARMENIAN. A Punjabi is PUNJABI. Get it?

NOBODY is white or black; we're all brown.

That's very cute and idealistic
