anorexic white girls?

What do you think when you see an extremely skinny black girl who most likely has an Eating Disorder...?

I think she's been brainwashed by white American standards of beauty by trying to maintain a slim figure like how white males want their women.

I have one friend who is American but her parents are African immigrants...she is naturally skinny but then she only eats sugar on top of that...talkin about how she wants to lose weight!

I have another African friend who is trying to get as low as she can so that "no blacks holla at her"

I think both are extremes...I myself keep fit, watch what I eat, but never thought about the underlying issues until speaking to these two girls...they are 23, 26 years of age respectfully

I've known of one black girl that had anorexia and eventually passed away a couple of years ago. It's not as prevalent in black women and there have been many studies that have shown that we tend to be very content with our figures & different body types.

I am so sorry to hear that... I am African American... I used to be anorexia and I was not brain washed.. It was all about control and me having control since at the time it felt like everyone else had control over my life but me...

Yea i was going to say the problem that most girls who have anorexia is that they feel like everything else in their lives is out of their control..

I think any woman looks better with curves, but especially us,lol. An anorexic blk woman would be more shocking to look at, to me.

Hi, sorry to hear that. How old were you and what do you mean by everyone had control over your life, but you? Some kinda superstar or something???

That makes sense, but I think the issues my friends do it for are a little more alarming.

This is not a black/white thing. It is a mind thing. They see something else in the mirror. It is a mental issue... more about not having control in certain areas.....my opinion.

I have been anorexic for a LONG time and all I can say is it was not any race that made me do it I just kept looking and mannequins in stores and girls at the mall and pictures in magazines and America's Next Top Model and all these websites with thinspo and I just kept racking my brain that thin is beautiful. and then I decided that I was going to make myself look like those girls and then I lost like 10 pounds in one week and I couldn't stop...I'm like 5'11'' and 118. Society made me feel like I was inferior and I want to be skinny so bad I want to be able to fit into the clothes that runway models do...I feel like Society should be ashamed that is terrible don't be like me live above the influence for real.

I'm anorexic and I do it for those reasons and it's good to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way. Everyone just thinks I'm crazy when I tell them that....

Black girls do develop eating disorders and its not because your brain washed by white people. it's just because your mind takes over your body and all you think of is being skinny because everywhere you look there's skinny girls on magazines and models being skinny… I'm 14 and black and I'm anorexic it's not because of a different race it's because of wanting to be skinny like models and people in magazines
