A New Haven man found hiding in a snow bank was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife on Valentine's Day.

Police responded to an apartment on Quinnipiac Ave. around 4 p.m. Thursday, after an 8-year-old called police to report that his mother was being assaulted.

Upon arrival, police interviewed the 35-year-old victim who said that after returning home from going to buy her a Valentine's Day present, her husband came home intoxicated and demanded that she give him her money.

Police said the woman refused and told him to leave, but he then pushed her down on the couch and choked her.

Eventually she told her husband she would give him whatever he wanted. At that time, he took her license, bank card, food stamp card, and her Oxycontin pills, and retreated to his car.

The woman told police she then confronted her husband outside demanding her things back, at which time he charged at her threatening to kill her.

The woman's son then called police.

Police said the man fled on foot before officers arrived, but returned around 2 a.m.

Officers returned and found 48-year-old Julian Derbocher hiding behind the home in a snow bank.

Derbocher was charged with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, and sixth-degree larceny.

The company made over $1 billion in U.S. profits in 2012, but they won't be paying a single penny in federal or state income taxes. In fact, Facebook will be getting a refund of $429 million. Citizens for Tax Justice uncovered the social network's use of a single tax loophole, which reduced their income taxes by about $1 billion just in 2012 – and even got them an additional $451 million in refunds from earlier years. When the company was preparing to go public last year, democratic Sen. Carl Levin predicted this outcome, saying "When profitable corporations can use the stock option tax deduction to pay zero corporate income taxes for years on end, average taxpayers are forced to pick up the tax burden." And Facebook isn't alone. Between 2008 and 2011, 26 large corporations paid no federal corporate income tax, despite their combined $205 billion in profits. These corporations get the benefit of using our commons, and they make huge profits off of hard-working Americans like you and me. They need to be paying for those privileges. A Texas man who believed his grandmother was trying to poison him allegedly beat her to death, authorities say, before hacking up her body with a chainsaw and burying her in her own backyard.

David Christy, 28, is accused of fatally striking 77-year-old Johanna Christy on the head with an object at her home last month in Corpus Christi, a town south of San Antonio

He then allegedly used a chainsaw, later found in the garage, to cut her body up into four pieces.

"'He placed part of her torso in a black trash bag, and then he buried the torso and the rest of her body in her backyard,” according to the police report obtained by KRIS-TV.

Cops were called to the house, where Christy had lived with his grandmother for six years, on Feb. 4 after another grandson grew concerned at not being able to contact grandma.

Christy reportedly tried to avoid arrest by fleeing through the back door, but was detained in a nearby apartment complex.

His grandmother's remains were found buried in a shallow grave just feet from her back patio.

"[Christy] stated the lady there was not his grandmother, that she was poisoning him,” the police report said.

Police said he later admitted to the crime. He has been charged with murder and evidence tampering, and is being held on $300,000 bond.

The FBI said they have caught an armed and dangerous man behind a string of bank heists in the Valley.
According to police records, Alan Jeffrey Farber, 48, of Phoenix, was arrested this week and believed responsible for a series of bank robberies by a man the FBI calls the "Dy-no-mite Bandit."
The FBI said surveillance video from the crimes made them believe that the suspect may have a military or law enforcement background. Farber is in fact a former LAPD officer where he worked in the Career Criminals Unit.

The first of the "Dy-no-mite Bandit" robberies was at a Peoria Chase Bank located near Vistancia Boulevard and North El Mirage Road on July 3, 2012. The second robbery was in December at the Wells Fargo in Anthem near Daisy Mountain and Interstate 17. The third was on Jan. 2, 2013, at the Scottsdale Chase Bank near Dynamite and Pima roads. The last incident was on Jan. 4, at the Bank of the West on South Old Black Canyon Highway in Black Canyon City.
The white male was caught on surveillance video about a mile away from the Scottsdale bank the day of the robbery. FBI Special Agent Mark Hoffman said the suspect watches the business closely before he acts and twice he cut a hole into the roof to get into the bank.
Police believe he lowered himself through the roof at the Peoria and Anthem bank locations, and in Scottsdale they believe he got in through a public entryway at an ATM and then used the fake explosives.
The FBI said the next day when the bank opened, the suspect would call and threaten to detonate the fake bomb unless he's given money. Agents said the bombs look legitimate, but none of them have actually been explosive.
On Wednesday, the FBI raided a home near 64th Street and Bell in Scottsdale that Farber was renting.
He is charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and use of a firearm in a crime of violence.
CBS 5 News is learning more about the suspect's past. Farber went to ASU from 1987 to 1990. He worked with the LAPD from 1994 to 2000 targeting the most violent wanted predators in LA. After leaving LAPD, he moved back to Arizona and worked in the construction industry. In 2005, he founded Buildproof, a payment platform for contractors and homeowners in the Valley.

ORLANDO, Fla.— The criminal trial of former Republican Party of Florida chair Jim Greer had promised to be embarrassing for party leaders, rising Republican star Marco Rubio and former Gov. Charlie Crist, who is contemplating a new political future as a Democrat.
But Greer's guilty pleas on Monday to four counts of theft and a single count of money laundering ended the trial before it even started and ensured that some state GOP secrets will remain confidential, at least for the time-being.
"There were a number of people who did not want this trial to go forward and the trial isn't going forward," Damon Chase, Greer's attorney, said after the former chair entered his pleas in court. "Once again, Jim Greer is falling on his sword for a lot of other folks."
Greer, 50, could face a prison sentence of 3 1/2 to 35 years when he is sentenced March 27. Assistant statewide prosecutor Michael Williams wouldn't say how many years prosecutors would seek.
The trial had threatened to expose the underbelly of Florida's dominant political party and its formerly high-spending ways. Party officials took heat three years ago from revelations of excessive spending at restaurants and luxury hotels on party-issued American Express cards by Republican leaders, including Rubio. Testimony about those expenditures had been expected at the trial.
Topics also covered in pretrial depositions included allegations of prostitutes at a state GOP fundraiser in the Bahamas, the drinking habits of Crist and intraparty strife. Some of Florida's most powerful politicians were scheduled as witnesses, including Crist, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and several state House and state Senate leaders.
Greer's acknowledgment of guilt was what the party wanted all along, party attorney Stephen Dobson said, and they weren't worried about potentially embarrassing testimony at trial.

A New York doctor was indicted this morning on charges that he sold prescriptions pills to drug dealers out of his Manhattan and Rockland County offices.
Dr. David Brizer, of Monroe, was charged with 34 counts of criminal sale of a prescription of a controlled substance, 15 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, defrauding and conspiracy charges, two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, as well as two counts of criminal tax fraud.
Authorities said the 60-year-old psychiatrist sold the highly addictive pain killers Oxycodone to criminals out of his offices at 48 Burd Street in Nyack and 244 West 54th Street in Manhattan. It is alleged that he sold several million of dollars worth of pills at $300 a prescription.
Attorney General Eric Scheiderman said one of the many drug dealers that Brizer sold prescriptions to was Franklin Walker, who was arrested in December and charged with drug possession and grand larceny.

Ex-porn star Jennifer Marchant -- known on camera as Scarlett Rouge -- pleaded not guilty to murder on Monday after her boyfriend bled to death from a stab in the neck.
The 23-year-old woman, who has starred in at least six titles such as "Super Sized Rides 2" and "Hot Sexy Plumpers 27," is suspected of stabbing her boyfriend, Ralph Stone, last Wednesday with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute, according to the New York Daily News.
Police responded to Marchant's New York apartment and found Stone, 24, bleeding from his neck. The father of Marchant's 2-year-old daughter was pronounced dead a short time later.
Marchant pleaded her innocence on Monday, claiming that she acted in self defense, according to WIVB.
Investigators haven't found a motive for the murder, but both Marchant and Stone have a history of arrests, police told the Daily News.
Marchant worked as an adult entertainer until she retired last year, the Daily Mail reports. Her Twitter states that she doesn't star in porn anymore.

Logan Storm, who was convicted of possessing child porn, hasn't been heard from since he removed his ankle monitoring device and dumped it at a park in Troutdale on Jan. 29.
But a Volkswagen Jetta linked to him has now been found in Los Angeles.
LAPD officers found it at 724 S Wall St. sometime last week. The license plates had been removed.
LAPD notified Los Angeles district marshals, who impounded the car to process it for evidence.
Though the car has been found, there's still no sign of Storm or a second vehicle - a green pickup truck - that he has ties to.
Until the Jetta was discovered in Los Angeles, authorities were not aware of any ties between Storm and the southern California area. They're now looking into that angle of the investigation further.
Storm was convicted in January, but a judge decided to release him pending his sentencing hearing in April. The judge made that decision despite the government's argument that Storm is a flight risk; they pointed out he has already fled the country once before.
Storm does not have a passport this time, at least not one that has been issued by the government.
Earlier this month, U.S. marshals said Storm may be getting help in hiding.

The alleged bronze-stealing graveyard robber who treated the final resting place of dozens of New Yorkers as his personal scrap yard was busted yesterday after being caught on camera by an eagle-eyed security guard.

Over a single weekend, Louis Peduto allegedly removed $160,000 worth of bronze from 65 mausoleums in the St. Raymond’s Cemetery in The Bronx — and had so unnerved area residents that they removed their own family members’ grave markers as a precaution.

Peduto, 56, returned to the cemetery Monday morning, but this time he was confronted by a security guard. He stood with a confused stare on his face holding a plastic flower as a guard snapped his picture.

The guard then gave chase, but Peduto dumped a bag of purloined bronze and got away, sources said.

That image, however, was turned over to cops, according to Matt Horace, chief of FJC Security, which patrols the grounds.

Charges were pending against Peduto, sources said.

News of the thefts had spread quickly to New Yorkers whose loved ones are interred in the Catholic cemetery.

“I was like,‘I can’t believe this,’” said Alicia DeCurtis, 56, whose brother was buried there in 1988 with a bronze grave marker supplied by the Army.

A sergeant with the New York Police Department was arrested Monday on child pornography charges after police allegedly found a cache of illegal videos on his computer.

As the New York Daily News writes, Sgt. Alberto Randazzo, a 15-year veteran of the NYPD, was charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

CBS New York reports that Randazzo appeared at a hearing in Queens Criminal Court Tuesday. The station notes that Randazzo allegedly "used Internet chat rooms to instruct an unidentified woman how to perform sex acts with infants and toddlers."

Police are still looking into the woman with whom Randazzo allegedly communicated via video chat. Eleven child porn videos were seized from Randazzo's laptop, according to WPIX. The sergeant's voice was allegedly identified in some videos.

According to the news outlet, Randazzo allegedly directed "a naked, female adult to sexually abuse an infant in diapers, and another little boy who was no more than one or 2 years old," in one instance instructing the woman to put her hand inside an infant's diaper and "talk dirty to him."

If convicted, Randazzo could face 15 years in prison.

This is the latest scandal to rock the NYPD recently. Last year, Gilberto Valle, the so-called "cannibal cop," was arrested after his plans to allegedly kill and eat women he met on the Internet were uncovered. Earlier this week, Valle's defense struck a blow when a judge refused to admit "gruesome" evidence against him.

In June 2012, former NYPD officer Michael Pena admitted to raping a school teacher in 2011, months after a jury failed to convict him.

A sergeant with the New York Police Department was arrested Monday on child pornography charges after police allegedly found a cache of illegal videos on his computer.
As the New York Daily News writes, Sgt. Alberto Randazzo, a 15-year veteran of the NYPD, was charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
CBS New York reports that Randazzo appeared at a hearing in Queens Criminal Court Tuesday. The station notes that Randazzo allegedly "used Internet chat rooms to instruct an unidentified woman how to perform sex acts with infants and toddlers."
Police are still looking into the woman with whom Randazzo allegedly communicated via video chat. Eleven child porn videos were seized from Randazzo's laptop, according to WPIX. The sergeant's voice was allegedly identified in some videos.
According to the news outlet, Randazzo allegedly directed "a naked, female adult to sexually abuse an infant in diapers, and another little boy who was no more than one or 2 years old," in one instance instructing the woman to put her hand inside an infant's diaper and "talk dirty to him."
If convicted, Randazzo could face 15 years in prison.
This is the latest scandal to rock the NYPD recently. Last year, Gilberto Valle, the so-called "cannibal cop," was arrested after his plans to allegedly kill and eat women he met on the Internet were uncovered. Earlier this week, Valle's defense struck a blow when a judge refused to admit "gruesome" evidence against him.
In June 2012, former NYPD officer Michael Pena admitted to raping a school teacher in 2011, months after a jury failed to convict him.
