Country music is great as it always has
A good story. If u listen to the lyrics it's great music. Some people don't listen to the lyrics because they don't like the beats. To me the lyrics make a song good but some people listen to a song because they like the beat & never really pay attention to the lyrics.

It's funny, you have Jeff Foxworthy make his entire career saying "you know you're redneck when...", but God forbid anybody say, you know you're a porch mnky when....God bless equality. hrck, I had to type mnky so that it doesn't get flagged, so what does that say right there? I get no warnings when I type redneck.

When I hear the word "ho down", I think of your mom going down on the head!

Ok, my mom is black and she is OBSESSED with country music. My dad is white and he hates country (he only likes 80s music...UGGG). I like powerful rap (like Maclemore; not the "I just had sex" crap) and top 40 pop. I understand why most black people don't like country. People who like/sing country usually are rednecks which are racist toward non-whites. Also, I have realized some black people act like they only like rap to fit in. I even like country... when I'm sad or depressed. Soooo... yeah.

First of all this is the dumbest post I've ever been so unfortunate to fall upon. Seems like some people need to do their homework. Country music , rock, blues, gospel, etc. all originated from black slaves. Second, I'm black and I love country music. The ignorant question that was posed already assumes that black country listeners don't exist. Lastly, THERE ARE BLACK COUNTRY SINGERS.

P.S. Hamdini you can't be seirous... smh..lol

It's obviously a cultural thing.

Did you also ask why most 'northern' and far west (California, Washington, etc.) U.S.'white' people don't care for 'country music' as well?

It's a culture thing. I'm sure most southern people don't care for Frank Sinatra, but most New Yorkers who grew up in that era like him and don't care about heavy metal, grunge rock, etc.

All cultural.

We'd most likely be into any type of music if it's all we heard growing up, whether "country music", R&B, classical orchestra, blues, alternative rock, jazz, etc.

It's how the human mind typically works: Our senses (in this case: hearing) adapt to the environment we're raised in and become accustomed to it. Anything foreign is thought of as "bad" because the human mind, out in the wild, is to protect itself by remaining in the environment and dislike any type of foreign invasion. That's survival; a defense mechanism.

That's how I look at it, anyway. I usually get logical answers to lifes' questions concerning humans when I think about where we're *supposed* to be living: out in the wild.

We live in an unnatural environment, so it's easy to become confused about many things and why humans act certain ways because of it.

This is TRUE to an extent. We can't forget humans (or some humans) are curious thus what we see as foreign is also appealing. If humans shunned things which are foreign, we would NEVER explore the world, discover and learn new things. Those who are open minded are more likely into various genres despite cultural upbringing and are also more educated of the world around them.

I agree.

I personally don't like any one type of music over all. Rather, I like certain songs from all types of music. I know this is how exceptions can be, but *typically* it seems that humans will stick mainly to what they grew up around. I did add "typically" in there, as I do know that there exceptions to any rule.

Once we experience different cultures, music, food, etc., it might at first be "weird" (which is natural) but the more we experience it, the more our guard of defense is let down and our minds will absorb it and thus pick out the most attractive parts of this new environment, culture, etc.

People who are bigots are usually the ones who grew up in a bubble and fed only very filtered information that led them to believe their close-minded thoughts to be a fact.

I always liked this quote:

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain

Exactly! Naturally BP are MORE eclectic when it comes to style of music. Many of us may have been conditioned to like one style of music. We associate certain styles with 'Blackness' NOT realizing many styles originated with African descendants like tribal ear piercings and stretching which are now associated with heavy metal.

In some ancient societies traveling was very honorable. Traveling is by far the most effective way of educating and learning IMO. Some of those who are college educated are still ignorant of the world.

I'm black and I love country music I was raised in the south and grew up listening to it. I think it is northerners who don't like this music. Now they are starting to like it because of the country/pop sound but I like the older stars, the true country musicians. I also love bluegrass.
