There are 60 comments on the Miami New Times story from Jul 17, 2013, titled The New Black and Other Docs Ask, "Why Has Black Been Made the Face of Homophobia?". In it, Miami New Times reports that:

There's a gorgeous moment in Yoruba Richen's documentary The New Black , currently playing the film festival circuit, in which two young black lesbian activists canvas an inner-city black neighborhood to drum up support for the gay marriage initiative that was on the ballot in Maryland's 2012 statewide election.

Hey, I know I asked this before, but.... Does nyone here besides me use Google Chrome to browse this site ?

And, since Topix changed things recently, and added this and added blue banner at the top, my blue banner, with all the text is ALWAYS upside-down. I've never seen such a thing on any site, with any browser.

I could send you a screenshot of it if you don't believe me.

Anyone else here have this weird upside-down thing ?

Also, if I use IE to go to this site, the banner is completely different.

Anyone else notice this ?

I disagree. In my experience it's xenophobes that are the most homophobic.

I empathize with the author's sentiment. Yet they seem to have ignored the obvious. The blame falls not only on the blacks that actively opposed ending discrimination but also on anyone who complained that we were trying to piggy back off the civil rights movement of blacks in the 50's and 60's.

AND the blame also falls on those who remained silent when such evil was spoken.

I use Firefox and a lot of stuff is missing ever since the 'upgrade' for TOPIX!
Can't see the vote icons. just numbers. I have no idea what they voted for. My editor button only shows up on certain pages.

I also use Firefox. I've had no problems. By the way, I got an email today about a "new & improved" Firefox. Know anything about it? I hate change just for the sake of change, or do they really have a new and improved product?

FTA: Often the first and loudest to speak out on gay issues are those with the least enlightened attitudes. But they're not representative of the whole. More progressive voices -- too often rendered invisible by mainstream media -- jostle right alongside them.

It's not just a black thing either. In just 30 minutes today I responded to FaFoxy parading himself as the ultimate judge of who is and who isn't a christian, as well as his xenophobia and racism and republican partisanship.

I usually use Firefox on here, but I had to check on Chrome and when the blue banner popped up, sure enough, the text upside down, but click on the arrow icon, it rights itself. With Firefox, what we are seeing on Chrome is actually the reverse side of the banner. Using Firefox, the banner initially appears with a Topix logo, your avatar and screen name. Click on the logo, the banner flips to reveal the banner with the forum links as it appears on Chrome, except the text is right side up. Clicking on the arrow icon in Firefox takes you back to the avatar banner that we can't see in Chrome.

I can see the icons in Firefox, so that strikes me as odd that you would have that problem. Firefox puts my editor button only on the front side of the blue banner on the pages where it appears, unfortunately for you, that's the side of the banner that Chrome can't seem to find.

I've never seen a webpage appear so differently depending upon which browser you use. Why is that ?

I just signed off of Firefox and opened IE on my Windows 8 OS, and I see no difference at all.

I wouldn't trust the email.

On the Firefox toolbar, click on "Help", then "About Firefox", then "Update". If there is a current security update, that's the most reliably from Mozilla.

Be sure that you are logged out of all sites when you do this.

Each browser has its own language and this site, more than others, seems to have difficulties in keeping up with their language skills. That upside down banner in Chrome is just weird.

The webpage looks very different depending on which browser I use. I am just curious, because I have never seen this happen before on any other site. Apparently the browsers translate the code differently, but I wonder why. Part of my page is always upside-down, and some things don't show up at all in Google Chrome. I could send you a screenshot if you're curious.

nbd if not.
