right then, where do i start:
a president that does not allow freedom of speech is corrupt, full of crap and the worst ever thing that the gambia needs or want.
so he managed to get a few roads built, a few houses built, but at what cost to the people. why is there no FREE vaccination for children against the killer malaria - there is enough money, but because of his creed and dictatorship no one can fight him.
why are the journalists who do fight him end up in prison for no reason? they have gone against the freedom of speech rule.
if gambia is mad enough to think that he is doing something for the gambia then you deserve him. he is a self serving, greedy, corrupt, president that is doing no good for the gambia.
its either his way or no way. peaceful bullocks - the people have no choice but to obey as they think that he is hopefully doing good.
cure for aids the president is an idiot and with his stupidity he will bring the gambia to its knees.
Spot on CSC :) theres more I could add but I wont, but it amazes me how they think he is second messiah or something, but according to the people he was better than the last one.

when i first went to the gambia in 1999 all the people i met was saying how good jammeh was at that time ,and as you say was better then the last president who was apparently as corrupt as hell ,by the time i went there last in 2005 people were now saying how jammeh was as bad or worse then previous president ,how they wanted him out but would never be able to be free of him as they could not go up against him ,for fear of imprisonment or worse ,the people of gambia are in fear of speaking out against him as we know .there will never be any freedomof speach or anything else for his people until he goes .what happened to the people that went to senegal to start a government throw over during the time when the executions took place ?have they changed thier minds or are they still planning to take over the government ?if they can will they be any better for the people or like jammeh if anyone takes over from him ,willl they become corrupt villians aswell as jammeh and previous presidents .

Too true MW, no matter who gets in they will never pull TG out of the cesspit.

There is many things he should do but if he wants tourists then he has to have a better Bumster control so that decent women can walk the streets without being followed, hassled and accosted.
He knows tourism is down this is why he has raised everything, but that wont help the people or the tourists.

I spent my time in Gambia using hidden coded language because there were spies everywhere.I like Gambian people and felt the clouds of oppression heard the truth felt the pain of the people I learnt of intertribal racism of beatings to death of the police brutality and crime.Tourists are merely dupes.

Yes it seemed that some of the earlier posts were o glossy brochure from the tourist board.I found out many truths about The Gambia.I am an attractive explorer no problem in life but nosy.I truly love life and humankind.I am not impressed by the many sad confidences told to me.I have Gambian friends in uk it is expected they send money back maybe if they dont family members are at risk remember people are taken in the full view by thugs even murdered.Open your eyes there was even talk of a union for bumsters good for trade.Look at the black black boys.I even heard that the soldiers take it in turns with the prostitutes before they enter the profession. The truth about the dark reality of life for the worlds persecuted!

I think many of us on here know the stark reality of TG and we definately do not gloss over anything.
I for one travel to TG on a regular basis staying for months sometimes, so I see my share of the real Gambia :(

well yes louby you should have looked at the forum as a whole rather then the first few posts on this particular thread ,which are obviously wrote by jammehs supporters ,many of us women on here however who have travelled not only to the gambia ,which we know is a the smallest country in west africa ,we know all about the corruptions of the gambia and what goes on there ,we have on several occasions had more then our say on the so called president and judgements and laws and how he runs the country ,BUT we also point out that there are some lovely people in the gambia and we feel for them and their way of life which is getting decidely worse ,tourists soon become aware of what goes on in gambia ,the good and the bad ,we also know where the blame lies ,and what was that in your previous post about spies ,who are you james bond or what .im sure mr jammeh has his little spies looking at this forum now and agian to see what is being said about him ,but what else can he do ,yes he can put the fear of allah in to his people ,but not us that is not to say we dont know how and what he does to his people if they try to stand up agianst him .why do you think so many women on this forum warn others about what goes on there ,we just dont have a moan about the few no good men weve encountered ,so have a good look at this forum louby then have your say again .

Yes then thats put me in my place.I simply go on impulse and a kind of sixth sense rather than common sense sometimes No not James wrong sex but more a free spirit rich bitch.I will never return to The Gambia dont like all the attention and hungry eyes.It makes me cringe.I dont like being bumstered or bullshit.I am not desperate for friends and havent got mug tatooed on head.My friends are loyal and hopefully respectful but they have the luxury of freedom and enough food etc

Life is not fair.I am Blessed.I have seen many good people travelling also stupid ones.Poverty does not make people bad desperate.I have always tried to reach out to people with honesty and a good heart.I try to set a good example also unfortunately British people often think they are superhuman. They believe Gambians actually respect and idolise them.I dont blame the youth taking advantage of them.Cheek and arrogance. The music is a good educator about the true aspirations of the people.I wish them peace health freedom wealth.

i dont insult british, i am talking about gambian history. we dont talk here ab our relations with gambian guys. that's nothing to do with my private life. would you like to come someone in your country and to become your master and you to become a servant??? i doubt! the wheel is turning to 360 dgrees. told to the belgium when they complained ab african who came from zaire. in the past, zaire was belg colony and belg colonists became rich there. same with gambia. instead to give for free, better to learn them how to live. "who is guilty, why to buy love?" they did everything to come in europe,no scrupuls, when you are hungry&family, you are ready to do everything to survive. it s their case and ladies are victims.
i dont hate them!

My husbands friend came to my wedding who is white and he was very disturbed at what he saw and felt that slavery is still alive and well in the Gambia today and i tend to agree with him.

but this steams from the people not moving forward, but how can you when practically every country got rich on what you had, then to top it all their own presidents then sucked anything left and now they have dictatorship, no freedom of expression or speech and no way of getting out of their situation unless they find a woman from other countries. its this the same as when the British ruled??

Yep slavery is alive and well in the Gambia which is sad when globally black people have fought to be free, so it is not a nice sight to see.
