It also doesn't hurt that a Bi-Racial man was elected president. You state that "its something that white folks need to work out." But we all live in a White America. We live in a pro-white society. Nobody lives in a bubble. So if you grow up as a bi-racial black person. Especially, within the last 30 years. Whites saw you as a black person. Blacks for the most part accepted that person. Therefore, you had a lot of mixed blacks claiming that they were black. This is direct proportional to the treatment they received from whites. Now that whites have become more comfortable with the idea of a bi-racial person. Now mixed blacks are not "burdened" with being black. lol. There is no such thing as bi-racial either, Barack Obama is a Black man.

What else is new-the white is right mentality lives on! Even on or off of topix, when black people are defending black people, they throw some mixed girl names out, like Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, Tyra Banks(looks mixed to some)Beyonce(who is thought to be mixed by about 25%)Stacy Dash,etc...only to have trolls say, "well of course they are pretty; it is the white in them." No one thinks of Jada Pinkett Smith, Angela Basset, Nia Long, Kerry Washington, Vivica Fox, or Gabrielle Union. Smh Blacks need to stop embracing the white is right idea.White is beautiful, but so is black. We cannot expect other people to recognize beauty in dark skin when we can't. Whites may have a white is right mentality, which is expected, because often people can identify with what looks like them. There is no excuse for black people clinging to the idea that dark is ugly. get over the brainwashing, already. Finally, yes, soon mixed black and whites may out number whites and blacks, and they are definitely beautiful, just like black people, and white people.

That also brainwashes people into believing that mixed women are prettier than black women when they are not. This makes the black woman invisible. i honestly believe that if a black woman feels invisible because of certain standards of beauty, that is a whole other problem with that person. no one or nothing can make you feel a certain way about yourself.

Very true. This have been happening for a while now. In television commercials. Either the token black is dark loud and ghetto, or a mixed person. Few commercial actually have decent black people in them. Since the 90's rap videos have a majority of mixed or Latina women shaking their arse. Lisa Bonet was the hottest black female on a sitcom, but that changed when Lisa rejected being called Black. these are just some of the examples.

But when I see someone who is mixed, but looks mostly black like Obama I am going to call them black anyways. This white looking girl here on the left is the daughter of the black woman on the right. http://web.wireimage.com/images/Thumbnail/613... i just cant wrap my head around it she is black, so to me I would just call her birracial even though she looks so white. Here is another picture of them when she was little. http://members.fortunecity.co.uk/tvsoapwed/ro... Would you call her black or birracial? I just cant call her black even knowing her mother is black. I would probably consider her white before black, but the correct word for me would be birracial, because that is what she is.

Only in the US is where mullattos are considered black, but thats even changing. 2000 was the first time that people can check off more than one box. Your definition of a mullatto is wrong. A mullatto is someone that is a mixture of primarly white and black. Anyway back on subject. Not only have eurocentrism effect the US, but it also spread worldwide. Look around, India have a caste system where light skin Indians are usually granted better jobs than the darker skin. In India popular bollywood( Indian hollywood), lighter skin people are advertise in commercials. They even have lightening cream for your skin; you can find it in the US also. There is countries in Latin America, Africa, and even Asia where Eurocentrism took effect.

You can call yourself mixed, bi-racial etc, get arrested and see what they list you as (BLACK M or W) PERIOD!!! You are jumping around the point. Obviously, they will be seen as black in the eyes of whites, if they are mixed at all with black. The point here is, however, the only reason they get more recognition is that white people see them as having more eurocentric features. They are embracing the whiteness in them, even though they still see them as black. That is the bias. They will favor them over "pure" blacks, even though they still consider them black. Do you get it?

You can call yourself mixed, bi-racial etc, get arrested and see what they list you as (BLACK M or W) PERIOD!!! And I don't give a monkey ball WHAT mixed black and white kids are seen as, in the eyes of whites or anyone else. Point is, if they are half and half, credit should be given to both sides of their herritage. Or if it is a personal preference, for example, Halle Berry being more comfortable being known as black, then we should honor her thatway, but at the same time acknowledge, or keep in mind that in actuality she IS half white. It is much easier for a half blk person to claim blk than to claim white cuz people will look at them and say "you aint white." I hope u are not avoiding admitting there is a problem with both blacks and whites favoring mixed women to black women, because of the white in them, by justifying it with the excuse that mixed women are seen as black. Seems as if that is what you are doing!

All African American's after slavery are Birracial in reality. However, Black was the label the system put on them because they are mixed with different ancestry. The One Drop Rule means just that. Therefore Birracial's mixed with African DNA are Black in this country, until Whites are overthrown and a new system is created. In fact, any birracial that is mixed with anything other then white is considered that race. For example: Jessica Alba is half Mexican and that's how Whites see her. Yeah, she had a child by a White man, but that doesn't change what she is. A lot of Mexicans think she's a sellout too.
