No one's denying how America sees Tiger. As to your father-- no one is stopping you or any other black person from claiming to be mixed-race if you so desire.
The only difference is that you nor the majority of other blacks in this country --despite our mixed heritage-- don't care enough about the word to try to distance ourselves from it in a world that constantly reminds us of it. We do not falter away from the term because we have a built a sense of pride in it and at the end of the day it's just not that serious to us.
