I can imagine he must have had a calm demeanor. My experiences dealing with the homeless after the 'Reagan dump' gave me a whole new perspective of the challenges confronting mental health workers. It takes a special type of person to deal with the multitude of problems they are faced with. Many of them end up suffering long term effects themselves. I hope this was not the case with your ex.
