Why does it seem like most vegans are overweight?

@Mumra
Lol, I am not overweight. I used to weigh 168lbs, which is the biggest I've ever been in my life.

In general, I was watching a chef on YouTube and she said its because they eat a lot of starch.

Fasting helps cure cancer? LMFAO!!!! Well, if that's the case then all the great medical minds of the 20th century that developed chemotherapy and highly advanced interferons were just wasting their time. All they had to do was ask you, right?

Health Tip of the Day #1

-Since we're heading into a new year, why not start out on the good foot and.....FAST! Yep you heard me, try fasting starting on Jan. 1 to jumpstart a new lifestyle, and if you can do it for 3-7 days. Forget the word "diet" because to diet is to start a temporary quick fix, not a lifestyle change. When you diet, you never win the health battle.

Never become a vegan for aesthetic reasons, always do it for health purposes or other reasons you may be passionate about.

Yeah, I know, you're celebrating New Year's eve tonight and you want the "bubbly bubbly" just because its vegan approved, right? Well, don't do it because when trying to reach perfect health, one should "steer clear" of everything alcoholic.

I've never had a drink in my whole life, not even a sip :)

I've been a regular vegan for a while now, now I'm going raw vegan. Since its early Spring and we're heading into Summer in June, I thought I might just use this time to really connect to nature and "perfect" my health even more...plus this will be less cooking for me!:)

Ok guys, I think I'm ready to go vegan! I'll be out of the dorms and into my own apartment soon, and can't wait to start cooking my own meals!

Will I have to take dietary supplements to make up for lost nutrients? I'm really excited to be leaving behind this fast food and TV dinner lifestyle!

I bought a vegan cookbook, but I need an extra "push" so to speak. If anyone would be so kind as to fill me in on minor details and give me a few pointers, I would gladly appreciate it!!

Hi BAP! I always say when doing a lifestyle change, always start out slow. Its just like exercise, you don't start out running 10 miles a day you start out small and gradually work your way up. Just like me, when I wanted to start the vegan lifestlye, I wiped out all RED meat and only ate lean chicken and fish; preferably salmon. Then I moved to being a pescatarian until I reached being a full blown vegan.
But however you want to start to become a vegan, its all up to you. Just know what your body wants and what your body can take.

I hope this helps BAP!

Health Tip of the Day #1

Use mock meat...moderately

When I make my dishes, they are mostly consisted of whole grains and vegetables. Every once in a while, I may use a mock meat to make a particular dish more hardy if it needs be. For example, I made linguine and tomato sauce today but instead of adding meat-less ground I used chopped zucchini, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, and garlic instead...and it was soooooo good! Like anything, just be moderate with whatever you eat :)

Raw foods for the summer?

I think the summer time is the best time to start a vegan lifestyle. Just about every fruit and veggie is at its peak and many local fruit stands are available meaning your food hasn't traveled that far. Take this beautiful time out and eat raw! Yes! embrace the natural mother-nature cooked foods that she has provided for us! Plus this helps to prepare and heal our bodies for the cooler and cold months to come in the Fall and Winter seasons :)

Being vegan can be cheap just take supplements Vitamin A C B and E. Also eating lentils and oatmeal is cheap. 3 meals with no snacks can be affordable. I've saved money and lost 25 pounds after going vegan.
