I'm just telling your what my Spanish teacher say's she says when using Tan or tanto it's a comparison of Equality.
This link say's the same thing but I don't see how.

The word "tan" indicates equality because it means "just as" or "as".

Raul es tan alto que el.=

Raul is just as tall as he is.

Raul is as tall as him.

Raul es alto como el.
Raul is tall like him.

The subtle difference is similar to the one between simile vs metaphore.

The word "tan" is preferable because it is precise.

Does this mean equal? Like I'll give you an example from my HW

Trabajo:tu 20 horas/tu amigo/a 20 horas

So would it be Tu amigo trabajo tan como tu?

That's acceptable as are these:

Tu amigo trabaj tal como tu?
Tu amigo trabaj tanto como tu?
Tu amigo trabaj˛ igual tiempo que tu?
Tu amigo trabaj˛ igual que tu?

trabaj˛=worked
trabajo=work

Okay thanks. My spanish homeworker is getting harder the further I go along, I'm still mixing it up with English so when I read in spanish it doesn't make any sense to me.

I really don't see America electing a Hispanic for president anytime soon. The Democrates will win again in 2016 probably with a woman. But we might see a Hispanic in top cabinet positions in 2016. One thing is for sure, Republicans have big problems.

he is black and like I said I highly doubt that will ever happen. But lets not pretend that having a white mother put alot of white people at ease and they voted for him

Unless he is Afro-Mexican, it will have to be without the help of the AA vote. Even then he might not get their support based on presumed cultural differences. Remember the issues AAs initially raised against Obama?
i'm pretty sure aa would vote in large numbers for a mexican american president if he/she addressed aa issues and was a democrat. aa don't vote republican. even if colin powell run on the GOP ticket, i doubt he'd get more than 20% of the aa vote simply cuz he was running as a republican.
