We already know this exist - why continue to discuss it? We can't change the preference of people - if they prefer light skinned people, there is really nothing we can do about it. What are we going to do? Go march in the streets? It's a waste of time.

There is somebody out there for everyone yet, we spend so much time on trying to get those who are not interested, to accept and like us.

Get in where you fit in, is my motto.

Sorry man, here in America we ended that Light vs Dark issue a decade ago. If most people are still concerned with it...then they really need to upgraded their daily hobbies...

LOL! Typical racist cop out from yet ANOTHER intellectually challenged racist white moron. I really like that "get in where you fit in" motto of yours. Too bad it doesnt cover the other side of the coin "Give back what you stole, and go back to your hole". You foolish hicks come over here to this forum hoping to get a few laughs and instead get a head full of shit to think about. Didnt you just spew this?:

"We can't change the preference of people - if they prefer light skinned people, there is really nothing we can do about it."

Yes, it looks like you did. Well then you need to look around pal. Looks to ME like people (overall) do not necessarily prefer light skin, especially blonde white women from Sweden (who seem to prefer dark skinned black men). Hell, even white people dont want to be white anymore! They cook themselves under suntanning lamps and smear Instant Tan on their skin to look healthier. So its all a matter of perspective in your skin game. Your message assumes that all black people will be going to interviews at white companies where such trite skin color distinctions make a difference. You are SO not all that. You need to step off.

BUMP - I'm not even white, I am a black woman and I am not going to retract my response. GET IN WHERE YOU FIT IT. As harsh as that may sound, it's the truth. Stop trying to get around people who do not give two cents about you. You can't make a person want to be with you just because, you are dark/light skinned. Get over yourself already. Blacks are the only race of people who I notice who try to make someone like or accept them. LIKE YOURSELF!!

SHUT UP COW. I am not asking you to retract your response or for advice about what I should do or who I should be around. I happen to be a light skinned man myself, and I think your self-denigrating attitude is sad and amusing at the same time. Your "get in where you fit in" is a stupid mentality. People dont have to "fit in" to have the right to go to certain places or belong to certain groups. "Fitting in" is a social factor which can change and be redefined by many things.
"Blacks are the only race of people who I notice who try to make someone like or accept them."
Wow. What a news flash! Until relatively recently, blacks were not allowed into many neighborhoods as homeowners, and in many businesses and social clubs BECAUSE they were black. They have had to FORCE acceptance in those places onto those who thought they didnt "fit in". You are one ignorant black woman if you dont recognize that. There was never institutionalized segregation which applied to other groups EXCEPT blacks (light or dark). It doesnt matter if the other group doesnt like it.

If black people accepted your antiquated mentality, they would only "fit in" in a cotton field or as maids, shoe shine boys, or minstrel performers. Not as billionaires, lawyers, senators and Presidential candidates. I hope you are 50 or older...I would hate to think that our young black people entertain such foolish notions.

Perhaps in a world of sunshine and puppies, that might be the case, but we live in a world where people ignore reality in favor of some PC utopian idea which simply does not exist. The first step in solving the color problem and ending the skin game is acknowledging that racist DOES exist, people DO judge based on skin color (initially), and there IS a distinct difference in the way white people treat people with varying skin tones.

Having said that, the cow who proposes that we "get in where we fit in" is probably the WORST piece of advice to give anyone of ANY race. I say "Get in wherever the f**k you want to get in, and who cares if others dont want you there because you are black.

if you have a healthy esteem about yourself, who cares what a few/some people prefer. acually preference is prejugdice. people will get what is coming to them though. you don't have to worry. polarized thinking people have alot to worry about. ask yourself, how many people were asked what they prefer/prejudge. 1,2, 10, 100. it does not matter, it will still be incorrect. the truth could be that people prefer dark or light and dark equally. who knows. PROPAGANDA.....

THANK YOU for posting this thread. I’m dark and hate it because of how I’m TREATED. I even posted studies to back up my claims. Yet people choose to ignore it and say stupid shit such as “dark skin is beautiful”. This is not about beauty but the way people respond to you and quality of life. Not being able to get a job no matter how much college education you have and being treated badly no matter how nice and intelligent you are does take a toll on your mental health. Pretending as if it doesn’t exist won’t make it go away. Some of the light skinned blacks on this board remind me of some white people when they deny white privilege.

Why do people ignore these studies? I post them over and over again just to get the same old “dark skin is beautiful” response. People purposely try to ignore the real issue at hand.
Let me post some of these studies AGAIN:

http://www.louisianaweekly.com/weekly/news/ar...

http://diverseeducation.com/artman/publish/ar...

http://alpha.fdu.edu/psychweb/Vol16-17/Brown....

There are MANY more studies. Google them. This is why I’d rather be light skinned than have this so called “beautiful” dark skin (yuck!). To those of you born light, thank god and consider yourselves very blessed.

So constantly being treated badly, not being able to get a job, and being paid less is not important?!!! People’s preferences affect their actions. Hence the reason why light skinned blacks are often hired over dark skinned blacks for jobs. Do you want me to post more studies?

theres no denial ..other races, not all..feel more comfortable around lighter blacks because they are closer to their skin tone, they view dark skin as a threat..Its all crazy.
