Because for years and years in this society, dark-skinned black women have been told subliminally by the media, their family members, the outside world that we're not beautiful. If you look at the black romantic movies, black music videos, and other resources, the leading black woman is always light-skinned or bi-racial. That's telling us dark-skinned black women that we're not attractive enough. You see, the devil (I don't mean the white man) is behind the media, and he will try everything to destroy the minds of the people. COLORISM SUCKS!!!!!!!

Hallo and good morning , we have 08.40h over here . I think that people should be over this .
My wife told me that as she grew up everybody was calling her names because she is very dark.
No boy wanted to be with her at that time . As she grrew up and started to look nice they started to pay atention to here , but than she didnt want nothing from them no more . This is why people should get of of skinncolor and just start loking who is this and treat everybody the same .
Stop hating start loving !

I am not hard, I am a perfect lady and I don't have a complex from being a dark-skinned woman. When I was growing up with my dark-skinned mother and grandmother, we learned that "good black don't crack" and the "blacker the baby the sweeter the juice" we were sweet Hershey bars and kisses, cup cakes and tall cups of warm cocoa. Dark skin is lovely. Who looks better in bright colors, who is less likely to have acne, and to age the best? That would be me. So not all of us are hard or take things personally. We are proud and content with our gorgeous skin color, and men notice. The guys have always gone for me. Black, White, Asian.

The only thing I have a problem with is the over-glorification of the white beauty standard in black women and the aryan beauty standard for white women that says you must have blonde hair and blue eyes to be most desirable. It's silly and it's all based on white supremacy. Everyone should stand firm against this and know that beauty comes in all skin colors, tones, hair textures, and eye colors.

This also speaks volumes of how sexist society is. Womyn should not place their value in their looks since this stems from sexist reasoning. Why is it always an issue about appearance rather than intelligence?

Hey I am dark skinned and I am the nicest person who gets along with everyone! Everybody at work and at home loves me, they use to call me chocalate back when I was a teenager because I am the color of chocalate and I am sweet, so thats the nickname that was choosen, I do think some dark skinned women have attitudes but there are many that don't.

Unfortunately, SEX SELLS. If you want to push an idea or product ahead and on to the marketplace. Your surely not going to put a picture of an acned face model on the box as representation of your hard work.

Dark-skinned women ARE meaner than the lighter ones but I find them more attractive, I just don't say anything to them because I try to avoid a confrontation. I love dark chocolate...it don't love me!

I've met shy dark skin girls and my eyes can't stop going to Gizelle's avatar..hold on...

ok, had to scroll down a bit.

Anyway, if you went to a school in this society you'd know THERE'S A REASON.

PEOPLE close up in general when they feel like they're attacked (physically or other how)

May be it's just the women you're dating. I've found just the opposite. Sweet, caring and gentle.

Go buy the book called the "Color Complex." It was written back in the early 1990's, but it is still prevelent in today's society. Colorism is alive and well within the black community.

There is a lot of chit on here that leaves me speechless, and makes me shake my head, and makes me think, and makes me enraged, and makes me feel hopeful, and makes me proud......
