You will no longer be treated with some "awwww you poor thing" effect.
Equal treatment doesn't exist. This is what AA was meant to remedy. Too bad most people are too damn stupid to realize that.

This isn't a meritocracy. Never has been. Look at our past. Our past has sculpted our present. Look at the hierarchy. Come on. Think, people!

You either study hard enough to past the entrance exam or you don't get in. The same rule for everyone. That's equal treatment. You all are just afraid you can't do it. Thats pathetic.

It's one thing to pass an entrance exam, however, it's a whole new set of circumstances when an applicant passes but is disregarded due to ethnicity, age, gender, physical handicap or sexual orientation. The system makes it easy to discriminate and I speak from my own personal experience as a Black man.

Exactly. Now the Supreme Court is basically saying it's okay to go back to the old way just because some of their constituents feel "discriminated" against. It's a huge leap backward. We'll see the aftermath within the next few months.
You misunderstod edthiry's point. Affirmative Action was desgned to fight discrimnation and give Blacks a fair chance but instead it has morphed into something else enabling people just based on quotas and gving preference because of skin color etc. Thats whats wrong with it.

I didn't misunderstand his point. I think the quota thing is a bit exaggerated, but I don't deny that it exists, and I disagree with it. I believe in AA used in the correct way, which is to allow minorities who are qualified the chance to work in jobs that they would likely be turned away from because of their skin color alone. I think AA needs to be fixed, not eradicated.

I agree. What many fail to realize is that AA does not set any quotas or set-asides. I think everyone should have a problem with suppressing any minority group when it comes to publicly funded entities. Blacks should not have to contribute any taxes collected to support state schools if they are to be denied entrance. Thurgood Marshall made this argument against the University of Maryland and made his case with the Supreme Court not long before he was appointed as a Justice.
