Your heritage is here.
Do they descend from African slaves brought to the U.S.?
The lack of ethnic pride is hurting AAs. If we have to go out of ourselves to find salvation, we have to work on ourselves; No one is going to help us but us.
So calling ourselves "Africans"(which we already do) is going to improve our economic situation?
"Heritage" ain't worth a darn if it does not empower us economically and politically.

You are focusing on the small picture, African unity has no borders or nationality. Our heritage doesn't begin with the slave trade, we are great people with a very long history. Calling ourselves Africans won't help us unless we use it to benefit us.
Again I suspect you're non AA!!
Then what be AAA?

Clearly the concept of African transcends the slave history. So, I am confused. I do not quite know who you are talking to. Clearly is is not meant for me.

"AA" sounds like some kind of a stupid credit down grade to me. We use to be AAA. Now we are only AA.

Malcolm isn't AA.
I don't see all "Black" people as my brothers and sisters.
I don't like AAs to claim non-AAs.
We are all of the same race, but different ethnicities.
I cant change how you view the world but all of the so called ethnicities you speak about are brought about due to slavery so you are letting the white man who brought you here define you again. If white folks still own your mind you aint an aa you are a negro. Negroes believe there is a diffrence between southern blacks and northern blacks. we both know thats not true. Well the same is true of the brothers and sisters throughout the diaspora.

African unity just seems unrealistic; I can't think of any other race thats 100% united. It would be more beneficial to us if the best and brightest of the "Black" race worked together.

Suspect all you want.

You can change your economic and political standing but you can't change what you are.

If I say I'm proud to be African-American, what does that have to do with every other "Black" person?

Well, eerr, what do you think about Pan-Europeanism? They are at least trying to unite Europe in order to prevent any future world wars from which the US will have to rescue them.

You cannot change you economic or political status substantially without some degree of group solidarity. Rugged individualism is a white man's ideology. not Asian and not African.

We have a shared experience i understand you narrowing it down but you have to understand that individualism is a european trait that keeps us from advancing as a people. This is a malcolm x thread and he said he was a victim america, so claiming america is counter to the spirit of unity malcolm talked about.
