Do African Americans feel threatened by the Caribbean culture and people? why? and why not?..This study is based on a survey examining the relationships among continental African, African American, and African Caribbean persons. Relationships were explored in terms of contact and friendship, travel to countries of the diaspora, cross-cultural communications, thoughts and stereotypes, and education involving knowledge of the diaspora. The outcome of this survey points to the need for more Afrocentric education in the curriculum (from elementary school to college) as a means of reeducating people to have a better perspective of the African diaspora and to dispel myths and negative stereotypes about African people.

First off, Africa is such a diverse continent to even think of something like an ignorant non-existing so-called Afrocentrism. Pan-Africanim can be only sublimed into a Pan-Bantuism, period -- that's more about it. Secondly, it's good to know that a biggest most original & never uprooted African diaspora - of course outside Africa - is found in Brazil. The only 'problem' w/ Brazil is, people there are almost all mixed to various degrees, but beliefs & culture are almost original W. African. Latin America has different cultures w/ more or less integrated local Afro-communities -- like Garifuna (Zamboes) in Belize. The Caribbean islands are very diverse too. Haiti & DR are two worlds apart, for example. Then there is a unique Jamaican/Jumiekan cultural identity w/ its patwa/patois. Cuba is yet another world, Puerto Rico as well. All seems very similar, but it's not.

All 'blacks' should love each other?! Good that in the USA 200 million of Whites could be tempted to h8 less than 40 million of Blacks. Right?! I think all people should love each other sounds much better & less ignorant.

Maybe once you get off your self-created petistal, you will be able to understand that all I meant was why come into an African-American forum and attempt to pit one group of Blacks against another... Get over yourself!!! I am NOT impressed!

Now I'm sure you'll be even less impressed after hearin' me sayin' that it's correctly spelled as 'pedestal'. As far as a self-righteousness goes I've only expressed my opinion. Any you know how it is w/ ones' opinions: everybody has one. Mind how you write your statements & there won't be any misunderstanding in future.

Well, thank you for correcting my spelling (I wasn't quite sure when I wrote it)... I am here to read all the varying opinions, so you having a different opinion doesn't bother me in the least... What bothered me was simply the fact that you felt the need to insult me in order to express yourself... If you disagreed with me, that is completely fine.. You just need to learn how to intelligently debate with others without resorting to childish insults... Thank you, and have a WONDERFUL day!

Hm, I wasn't actually dissin' on ya or insultin' ya. It was a mere sarcastic observation. Do you really believe I need a forum & this virtuality to feel alive & attention worthy??!! I tend to be quite irritated any time when it's about racial slurs or hypocrisy. Personally, when it comes to women I love 'em all. So I'm sorry if you got offended by my words. No harm intended whatsoever.

It's all good.. I guess I misunderstood initially... maybe took your comment a little too seriously (Admittedly, I do that sometimes)... Well, I am a generally peaceful person, and I wish you nothing but the best... You are Black, I presume, and I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with my people... I'm going to go stir up trouble in another forum... lol... Bye!

You Haitian animals are the most ungrateful wretches and if it wasn't for the protests of AA's you'd be getting raped in Haiti right now. You might think your an AA but you will never be a human, Haitians are animals and deserve no less than what has befallen them.

Your thread sucks major azz, homie. African Americans and Caribbeans are different ethnicities from the exact same racial stock. No one is competing with each other for anything.
