Same sex marriage isn't a recent "invention", lying *sswipe Peter.Yet one, same sex, is a recent invention, while the other, opposite sex, has be the sole understanding of marriage since before the birth of the Republic.
Religious understanding is irrelevant as the topic is civil marriage. And since discrimination against and punishment of people engaging in same sex behavior is also a long standing cultural, social and legal practice until recently, the lack of historicity of same sex marriage has no relevance. Except to bigots like you.The latter also possess the long standing cultural, social, sexual, and/or religious understanding of marriage as a union of one man and one woman as husband and wife.
Legally they are equivalent.Simply because the state removed gender references from the marriage license, doesn't mean the two marriages are equivalent.
There are no legally based marital "presumptions, expectations and understandings" of opposite sex marriage that don't also apply to same sex marriage. And social or cultural based expectations of marriage are by no means universal either. The opposite sex couple are pronounced "husband and wife", and all the associate marital presumptions, expectations, and understandings that go with it.
What a coincidence; that's all opposite sex civil marriage is too.A same sex marriage is simply a personal intimate relationship with a benefits package.
Only to stupid people or bigots who can't or won't understand the law or the constitution. Why you insist on claiming there's no difference is puzzling.
You've been told several times that phrase was created by a researcher to describe men who are envious of female gender roles for which they believe themselves better suited than traditional male behavioral expectations. The term has nothing to do with either biological sex or sexual orientation. Why do you persist in lying about it?Is a male lesbian simply a lesbian who happens to be a man?
Yes, a burger is a general term referring to a type of sandwich whereas other qualifiers such as "veggie", "ham", "cheese", "bacon", etc. denote the type of protein and/or ingredients included in the sandwich. Just like marriage is a general term referring to the establishment of kinship between previously unrelated parties while qualifiers like "opposite sex", "same sex", "interracial", plural, etc. denote characteristics of or the number of participants.A veggie burger simply a burger made out of vegetables?
The average person generally tries to correlate unfamiliar things with their personal experiences in order to understand or relate to it. People who are intolerant of others different from themselves likely focus negatively on the differences from their reference framework while those who are more tolerant likely focus on the similarities to their reference framework. You seemingly fall into the former group. You're kidding....you have to be. So because the state issues a marriage license to same sex couples, 2/3 of which are female, then suddenly the collective cultural, social, sexual, and/or religious understanding of marriage as a union of husband and wife, vanishes? Does the average person look upon two women, or two men, and think, "Gee...why they're just like a married husband and wife, but without the husband or the wife"?
Gays already embrace their differences. What they're trying to achieve is to stop being punished and discriminated against by the majority because of their differences from the majority.Embrace your difference....you don't have to prove you're not two women....society already knows that.
