Hey, this is just a new thread that I will claim as sort of a hangout. I could have put it anywhere, but it is in a convenient place close to town, and the rent is affordable. <g> Sure, this is probably not the best neighborhood, but I'm willing to level with the decent people here. Not every thread has to be confrontational. Sure, it is a free country, but lets try to act civilized here, and keep out the accusations and blaming, okay?

I just want to share things about life, and preferably the least controversial ones. We can talk about a number of things, and I would like to share inspirational things, sunshine, light, and goodness. I can talk about health, PC advice, general tips, science, etc. We can use our imaginations, joke, have fun, and so on.

What do you do for a living Spotted Girl? I ask because you mentioned PC advice and I figured you may be in the IT business perhaps.

Don't I know you from the Weird Forum, and don't you have a political blog?

I do a little bit of everything. I like to remain a mystery online.

That's fair enough and smart. I don't care to remain a mystery anymore. It would just put me into the same boat as the trolls on here who are constantly angry and hostile because their own lives have deteriorated before their very eyes. So a chick of all trades huh? That's cool. How do you feel about this new google high tech eyewear where you can record public behavior in bars and such?

No, you don't know me and I don't know what forum you're talking about.

You have a good point on being a mystery like the trolls.

I have mixed feelings about Google Glass or whatever, and I don't blame the establishments that ban them. I think most know that a lot of Google employees were former government, like Secret Service, or contractors for the government (like an outfit called Keyhole - telling name, huh?). That is where they got their map technology.

Now I believe all this is compromising our security. The government can subpoena their information (or get it without a subpoena nowadays it seems) and they make corporations and individuals a part of their policing. Many fear the government coming in and requiring cameras in our own homes. No, that would cause lots of civil unrest, but if they can con everyone into installing them themselves and snitch on themselves... And that is what Facebook, YouTube, and so on are, places to snitch on ourselves. Someone goes on YouTube giving their dog dope with their friends, and in a few days, the cops bust them all. While some get bent over the supposed cruelty and are glad to see "animal abusers" put away, the fact is that nothing you put online is safe. I've heard at least 2 stories where teenagers were arrested for planning murder plots because of what they said online. Vigilant mothers found threatening comments online about their children and called the cops.

Oh, the intentions of the technology is good - it almost always is except in cases where harm is the objective. But it is later uses that become a problem. It is like RPID microchips. The earliest uses were for tagging merchandise, and it was adapted to tagging animals. Who wouldn't want a means to return Fido and Fluffy should they get lost? And then they suggested children. While there is the intrusive medical procedure aspect, helping to identify abducted children is good. But where will that stop? I fear we will have the cashless thing before way too long, and if you don't compromise or play the game, you would be left to starve to death.

Oh, okay. Weird is the one that was once called Offbeat until they used the name for a new Topix spin-off, using the code they developed for Politix. So the old Offbeat is now the Weird Forum. I asked because it says you are in the Chicago area. There is a guy over there who also stays logged out and posts from Chicago, Schaumburg, etc.

Ok. Makes sense. I've periodically read some comments and articles from Politix but I'm not registered to post there and I'm a girl not a guy.

You're right. They want chips to implant into our animals and now our children. It's insane. Also I have noticed lately on Facebook and even YouTube a lot of kids and adults sometimes are being found by cops who frequent those sites to catch "criminals". Even the new Chrome Book by Google comes with its own built-in security to help protect you from viruses and such. It isn't a coincidence. Google is now used as some not-so-secret executive branch to obtain information about Americans and now foreigners to label them as terrorists or treasonists.

I am mostly an Offbeat regular, but then I came here to fuss, and now just to chill.

Yes, it is often hard to tell who is who online in terms of gender. I like the cartoon of two guys meeting each other from online. I don't know the names used, but it was like, "Are you Laura? And are you Stephanie?"

Or the one with cyber where it shows 2 guys, one is puny and weak and is talking about his huge muscles, and the other says something about his breasts and desiring only him, etc. Neither were what they said they were. The one was not big and strong, and the other was not a woman.

Chromebook, oh, the browser-only machines. I've never used one, though I like how they don't require as much processor strength and are pretty fast in powering up. Now what you say there sounds scary. Oh, I believe AV software is a must, but I see the potential for abuse.

Oh, and even foreign governments are doing the same about us. Don't try denying the Holocaust or bashing Germany publicly on the Internet (or as a letter to the editor in a newspaper connected to the Internet) with your real details and then visiting Germany. Or you might end up in prison there.

While I am not against them catching real criminals, and I don't believe "sexting" is right, I readily see how they can overreach. In one area, they made so big of a sexting bust that the DA refused to take anyone to court. They figured talking to them or an awareness campaign would be better. A problem I see is when sex crimes laws take on a larger scope than intended. A common problem in some states is that public urinators are being forced to register under Megan's Law or similar, even if nobody actually saw them. And there is shoddy prosecution in those cases. "Did you actually see the defendant's genitalia?" "No, but I saw he had his back turned and I saw a puddle of what might have been urine after he left." And such weak circumstantial evidence is being used to get convictions for indecent exposure and forcing them to register as sex offenders and have their addresses published.

And something scary about laptops is when schools issue them and then snoop on students at home or even punish them at school for what they do at home. So a girl might forget she has the computer on, change clothes, and get in trouble for "stripping" in front of the webcam. If you have such a machine, make sure you occlude the webcam.

Thank you. I took the idea from the original Offbeat Forum (well, Weird Forum now).

Besides, I've figured it would do better to try to try to get along and help others in a gentler sort of way. I am not how proud I act in the other threads, so I want to earn trust and show my humanity a bit more. I believe most of what I say, and I am who I say I am, and I get sick of the untrue things said about me, but it is par for the course, and I need to keep my head high, and everyone else should too. I constantly deny the accusations and rumors, and I thought it had died down, but the same ones just rehashed it all.

Anyway, I hope you had a happy Easter.

Like I said previously, there are some neat stuff on YouTube that impress me. The computer CGI work that some can do, like a guy named Cyriak Harris (just Cyriak on YouTube) is amazing. Two of his that are my favorites are "Kitty City," and "Cows & Cows & Cows." Kitty City is a city built of cats, and it shows vehicles made out of cats with cats inside, and trees made out of cats.

Then Cows & Cows & Cows starts out rather innocent, then the cows start nodding in unison, then they start tilting, then rolling into balls and bouncing, break dancing, and elongating. Then the cows start splitting off into more cows and doing really weird stuff, and something very graphic around 1:07. The head from the weird cow thing goes into another cow (not saying where), and then that cow has a bunch of heads splitting off.
