Here's how it works. I make up a simple math problem and someone puts down the answer. Then you put down a new problem. It's just like the movie game, except you have to do a little more thinking.
I'll start with an easy word problem:

Fred eats 12 hamburgers in 48 minutes. How many minutes does it take Fred to eat one hamburger?

Math thread? Nice. How about this easy one?

Fred is X years old.
His little sister Sam is six years younger than Fred.
Their cousin John is half the combined ages of Fred and Sam.

If Sam is four (4) years old, how old is John?

The square root of x is 3.

Alicia works for Sears. She sees a dress that is on sale 50% off the original price. When she gets to the register to buy it, she then learns that she can get an extra 15% off the discount sale price since she is a Sears employee.

The dress was originally $54. How much does Alicia actually pay for the dress after all the discounts?

My driveway is 30 ft long. The tire on unicycle has a radius of half a foot. While riding my unicycle, my tire is moving at a rate of 3 rotations per minute. How long will it take me to reach the end of my driveway in minutes?

It would take about 3.19 minutes. That was a good one. I nearly forgot the formula for the circumference of a circle.

X + Y = 12
Y + Z =(-2)
X - Z = 18

What are the values of X, Y, and Z?

I don't think this problem works out correctly.

First statement is X + Y = 12

but if you add the second two statements (Y + Z + X - Z), then you get X + Y = 16

so you have X + Y having two solutions.

Oops! Sorry. Well, how about this one.

A water tank is 3ft high, 3ft wide, and 3ft tall. How long would it take to fill the tank with water if water is poured into the tank at a volumetric flow rate of 3 ft cubed per hour?

Volume of the tank is 27 feet cubed. 27 feet cubed / 3 feet cubed per hour = 9 hours
