I know the whole complection thing is getting worn out, but check it. I see alot of men and women who either refer to them selves or some one else as being light skinned when they are brown. Light skinned to me is classified between high yellow like Mariah Carey to about the color of Steve Harvey.

That was a really good break down!!

What about someone lighter than brown and darker than 'light' skinned?

Some family members and I would be right between, and depending on how much cold or sun we get it could be either or because our skin changes drastically.

I wouldn't consider Steve Harvey light skinned. Tyra Banks made a comment about being light skinned. I don't think she is either, and I don't think Halle Berry is. I would agree that Mariah Carey is. She is biracial, but her race isn't the issue. Her complexion is one I would consider light skinned, whether the person is biracial or not.

Most lightskin African Americans are actually light Brown with a yellowish undertone. Some Biracial blacks are even lighter then lightskin African Americans such as Drake who has white skin.

Yes he is especially during the summer when his complexion darken. Lightskin blacks are very light brown with a yellow undertone. No black person is actually yellow. Like most whites are not actually white unless their skin is extremely pale or albino and no black person is actually jet black. Most dark skin blacks are very dark brown.

Yes and no. My parents are 'black', but my grandparents, and great grandparents come from over 4 backgrounds.

I don't think you are red-boned is a reference to a 'light skinned black woman' specifically. Not any person who is light-skinned..I guess if you were going off of skin, that person would be right but by definition they are wrong..

speaking of wrong, who is going through this thread giving everyone penuts and red Xs ? lol

Ohhh sorry I take back what I said. I shouldn't have assumed you were asian alone until I read your quote. In that case 'red boned' fits perfectly.

I honestly couldn't even tell just by looking though.
