This is a serious question. No jokes please. What are the signs of someone being white washed because I'm finding it hard to understand what it is to be "white" and what it is to be "black" so to speak.

To AAA,
Please don't hound posting on the African American forum. I'm aiming my question at African Americans and to be honest, I don't need a visa to comment here.

A dead giveaway is that they only date whites and are always downing their own.

No one really knows what it means to be "whitewashed".

It's simply a term used by the ignorant and less educated blacks to invalidate those of us who speak standard english, work for a living, or participate in activities that white people are known for participating in. Whitewashed is a term applied to label others for actually DOING something with our lives aside from breaking the law, smoking weed all day, or leaving children fatherless. Anything the common street negro doesn't do or understand is labeled "whitewashed". They do this, because they are quick to judge others and very slow to understand what it is they are judging or why, so they call people "whitewashed". When you call THEM something or label them, they immediately scream how unjust it is for you to do such a thing to a fellow black person. Only THEIR version of what should be black is relevant. Anything else is "whitewashed". There is a standard that all black people are supposed to conform to. When you refuse to heed this standard you are CAST OUT and labeled "whitewashed" or an Uncle Tom.

There! I said it.

In my observation, in the states white washed is when you're in a relationship with someone outside of your ethnicity, when you are articulate which is considered talking white, when you are a Republican or conservative politically, you listen to various music genres other than rap and R&B, etc. When you don't fit in too well with your own because you're eclectic or unique is overall perceived as white washed.

People who label others "whitewashed" are generally too stupid to understand the actual difference between Republican and Democrat. Often they don't even vote. It's all kind of funny really. If you really want to watch their heads explode then bring up the issue of the Green Party, Libertarian, a Proposition, or anything on a voting ballot.

You're absolutely right Kip. I myself am a conservative but a registered Democrat and people don't understand what that is. They clump everyone of color in the same category which doesn't say much about them being an independent thinker themselves. A black chick asked me what is a libertarian the other day. I told her to look it up. I don't find it helpful to label someone white washed because of their differences. What they're saying is that intelligence and hard honest work only equates to white people. Fun dummies smh...

To me, white washed is anybody that comes near the character Samuel Jackson played in Django. Those are some dangerous folks. I worked around a few over the years. You may not believe it, but I worked with one who looked like a young version of that character Jackson played, whose name was Stephen. Watch out for those Stephens, especially if you're a conscious brother like me.

I do not really think white washed is the correct term but I consider a white washed person(black,Asian,Hispanic... etc) someone who is supposed to "lead" because they have all the means to do so but they do not because...they are white washed therefore in a way they are less- not as useful than those they consider below them.

By the way the name of the character Samuel Jackson played was Stephen. Although he deserves to be put on blast, some may have though I was giving out the name of the uncle tom I actually worked with.

I don't quite follow you?

I only used the term white washed because someone accused me of being so for being smart...

I don't personally believe this or in the white washed term. I've just heard crazy blacks use these excuses to call other blacks that term. Any minority who has an education, articulate the English language, and is law abiding....I've seen these kind of minorities get bashed and called white washed by others. It's quite ridiculous isn't it?

I wouldn't go as far as to say that there's a standard to conform to in terms of what OUR tastes in music should be, or what political party we should represent but there SHOULD be a standard as to how we consider the things that negatively effect us and resist us as a whole.

And whenever you have a Black person who THINKS that they can dissassociate themselves by disengaging who they are from the people in which they hail out of ASSuming that will enhance them as individuals or make them in better standing with their euro counterpart, that there is what you call "WHITEWASHED".

Whenever you disband yourself from the Black agenda all while celebrating and providing bouyancy to the agenda of whites (or any other race beside your own), that there is THEE definition of being "whitewashed". Because in case you haven't noticed it...other races are quite adamant with upholdoing the agenda of THEIR race...even these particular races that are not as prominent...these folk are still about themselves inspite of it all! Blacks? Not so much...

Well, like you said, those are just "crazy Blacks that use these excuses to call other Blacks that term"...not really understanding in full as to what the term means.

Folk misappropriate the term "Uncle Tom" too. If they knew who "uncle Tom" was, they wouldn't use it in the context they normally use it in.

The term means you've lost your sense of identity...or you don't know yourself so you take on white people's cultural customs. The key here is knowing yourself.
Having it "made" or enjoying certaing activities has nothing to do with being "white washed"!
