Actually her father is biracial. So maybe she considers herself biracial because of her dad. He is irish and black. She is basically black and biracial.

This is the same female that consider herself black and wanted to be the next black Madonna: http://bossip.com/3243/rihanna-wants-to-be-th...

any way she can think what she wants but the word biracial is reserved for people who have one parent of a race different from the other parent, like Obama, halle's and bob marleys parents.

rihanna has a black caribbean mother and biracial caribbean father, so she doesn't fit in the biracial category, she is black female with mixed ancestry. Malcolm X has the same ancestry and was labeled as a black man and called himself a black man

I get what you're saying. Most of the time people don't consider you biracial unless you have parents of two different races. That's for the people who actually consider biracials, biracial. But technically she is biracial. Biracial doesn't mean 1/2 and 1/2 it doesn't mean any percentage actually it just means exactly that bi=2 racial= race. So if you are mixed with two races regardless of percentage then you are biracial. When I have a kid, whether the father is white, black, Mexican ect my kid will be biracial and I would want them to identity as that. But I would never force them I would want them to identify as what they are comfortable identifying as.

My bad if I had a kid with a Mexican my kid would be multiracial. The only time my kid would also be biracial is if I mixed with a black man, white man, or another biracial. That's a good point to make too. If I had a baby with another biracial would my kid not be biracial because the father and I are the same race?

actually biracial is 1/2, it is mixed race that is considered any mixture but there is a cut line, if that rule applied to everybody almost All AAs and most white americans would be calling themselves mixed race. I think it is good in where you stand but if the kid father is white most likely he will be considered white because majority of the time they will look white, and the same with a black father.

I didn't understand why everyone, especially the African Americans were getting so upset about what she said.

Its not like she has two completely black parents. You know like two grandparents being black and the other two grandparents being black. Their anger would be more resonable if someone like Vanessa Williams or Oprah Winfrey claimed to be biracial even though BOTH of her parents are black. However, BOTH of Rihanna's parents are not 100% black. Like I said, her mother IS black, and her father is HALF irish and HALF black.

People are quick to call Mariah Carey black, when Obama is only half of that and Mariah isn't even half black she is white, black, and Venezuelan.

Oh, and for everyone that thinks Rihanna is light skinned because a lot of people think this, she is not. I saw her in person and her skin is brown. She looks much lighter in pictures and on television.

Biracial doesn't mean equals or 1/2 it just means 2 races. Look the word up in the dictionary it says "concerning or containing members of two racial groups". If I had a kid with a white man my kid would definitely be educated on both cultures. Even though I would never force my kid to identify as anything I would definitely make sure they weren't going around calling themselves white. Calling themselves white would be denying a part of them including me and I would do everything in my power to make sure that doesn't happen. If I educate them on both cultures I don't see why they won't identify as both cultures. People can call them white but I bet you my child will correct them( I would hope so). Vice
versa if I had a kid with a black guy I don't care how they look they're gonna know about their Irish heritage and thier great great great parents that came from Ireland. I would make sure that my kids identify as mixed regardless of what their appearance is. But again I would never force them.

happy you say that you have to be 1/2 of something to be biracial but yet you're calling her father biracial. He's not half anything he's only like a quarter. Watch the video of her on her race she even says it.

At some point black women will stop denying what we already know.

The generation before them wasn't so bad. But wait until you see the offsprings from this current crop.

None of them will claim to be black.

They will be trying to create a caste system in America by uplifting whites more than you see their mothers. Only these little monsters won't be saving their venom for just one sex. They will target both sexes.

You reap what you sow.

I did and it also says:
"Having parents of two different races."
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/biracial

"The terms multiracial and mixed-race describe people or groups of people whose ancestries come from multiple races. Unlike the term BIRACIAL, which often is only used to refer to having parents or grandparents of two different races, the term multiracial may encompass biracial people but can also include people with more than two races in their heritage, or also may refer to the origin of more generationally distant genetic admixtures of more than one race in a person's DNA."
