[ I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.]Part one
1. I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.
2. I can avoid spending time with people whom I was trained to mistrust and who have learned to mistrust my kind or me.....
Just stay in the hood. No but seriously, thats hard to do??? Sounds kind of racist too. Imagine if a white person said that. They couldn't, but you have that..privlige.
[I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed.]
That tends to depend on how you dress and carry yourself more than any thing else.
[I can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of my race widely represented.]
Do you realize that Blacks are only 13% of the population. It is only reasonable to expect that they will be represented in accordance to their numbers. Is it not?
[I can be pretty sure of having my voice heard in a group in which I am the only member of my race.]
For sure. You will stand out in the crowd
[I do not have to educate my children to be aware of systemic racism for their own daily physical protection.]
Yeah so called systemic racism is phyically threatening, isin't it?
[I can swear, or dress in second hand clothes, or not answer letters, without having people attribute these choices to the bad morals, the poverty or the illiteracy of my race.]
Thats one of the priviliges you are whining about?? Lol. That is about stereotype. The only way to change is by showing more positive exmaples. In other words, it's in your own damn hands
[I can be pretty sure that if I ask to talk to the "person in charge", I will be facing a person of my race.]
Again remember your percentages, be realistic!
[if a traffic cop pulls me over or if the IRS audits my tax return, I can be sure I haven't been singled out because of my race.]
Last I remember, there is no box to fill in for race on a tax return but maybe I should check it again.
Most of what you listed are the expected cirumstances of being a minority (folks of lesser number)in any soceity along with certain negative stereotypes which are in your power to change not part of some purposeful conspiracy to oppress you or hold you down.
It's all mostly the whining of a petty ego. Excuse my insensitivity but please shut up already!
