I sometimes teach THE SOULS OF BLACK FOLK in my philosophy classes. The underlying ethical principles of Du Bois' thought, and his philosophy of consciousness and identity (esp. in Chapt 1)are what I mainly focus on.
Sometimes I have students read that in conjunction with Angela Y. Davis' "Unfinished Lectures on Liberation."

All three of his autobiographies are worth reading.
There's also an AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
Angela Y. Davis also has an AUTOBIOGRAPHY.

If you're at all philosophically inclined, you might enjoy GOD AND HUMAN DIGNITY, by Dr. Rufus Burrow. A study of the philosophical and theological foundations of Dr. King's thought and politics.

the book is actually called, "My Bondage, My Freedom." its one of two of the most disturbing books I have ever read! its a MUST read for serious students of Afro-American history.

I do plan to read his other biographies. I just have so many other books on my list to read right now.

Lol! Jigs can't read unless its a crudely drawn cave scrawling or a diagram in poo. You can barely speak intelligibly let alone read, write and make use of comprehension skills that don't revolve around fried chicken and crack.
